World Happiness Ranking!

Basically all of these countries rank in the top 20 for Antidepressant usage in the whole world.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_antidepressant_consumption

If you’re referring to the Nordics, which all rank in the Top 10, you’re correct and incorrect.

The Nordics have high rates of antidepressant usage, but that is mainly because of off-label usage.

Most of the prescriptions given for antidepressants here are administered for sleeping difficulties.
Low dosages of (the most popular) antidepressants are used to treat sleep difficulties, which spike in the Nordics in the winter time.

The winters here are long and dark. Like really dark. For months and months we get at most a few hours of sun a day and then it’s pretty much pitch black; that messes up your body’s biological clock, thus sleep difficulties.

Even out of my family of 6, five of us use ’antidepressants’ on the daily.
Not because we are depressed, but because of sleeping difficulties caused by the pitch black months.

How the f*ck is Israel ranked 5th?!
I haven't seen a smile for more than a year.
 They mentioned this, LOL

Happiness is measured using six categories including GDP per capita, social support, and healthy life expectancy, among others.

Thats a new info to me.. Most probably the other countries who are ranked over 50+ are not well-aware of anti depressants? I think, the Goverments of such countries should concern more about their citizens mental wellness over their financial status.

Maybe, but I personally believe that the happiness index lists are often BS. I have visited several of these countries and much of the general population looks like they want to die every day.

Conversely, places like Mexico or Thailand which never make these lists, local people behave and look like they are very happy, despite being much poorer and having worse overall conditions

To be honest, I'm not sure they are measuring it correctly. Happiness metrics are subjective and self reported and it might actually be research into where the people doing the research would be the happiest, not where the people are actually the happiest. It might also be measuring where people would be the most likely to politely lie to the researchers.

But I still might chose Sweden, Finland or Norway for the metal scene.

I'm content with where I am right now, but I have the feeling I might also enjoy Central Asia or South America.

So what happened to Butan? It was ranked number one 'happiest country' for like three decades on these bs lists and now isn't even on the chart

So basically these rankings measure happiness? Well, if true, it's interesting. Will definitely lookup how they are doing this.

According to this video I bookmarked, apparently some of these countries up north HATE small talk. They call it 'kallprat' / 'dodprat'. No idea how true that is, maybe that's why they're happy lol.

Of the list, I was most interested in Costa Rica. Are there any residents of this country here, are you happy?
