I almost feel like you. After working and studying 6 Years Straight on IM. I have this sort of compassion alike feeling. If I don't go outside and practise nature related sports I simply start getting paranoid after a week, my confidence starts decreasing etc. It's a must for me to do simply go outside.
I know what you mean OP. Sometimes I go insane if I don't go outside since i'm all couped up in the house, I have to atleast do something outside every day or i'll go mental. But anyways congrats your outdoor job!
I renovated my house 2 years ago, and while it is not working "outside", it was 2 months of manual labor 12 hours a day without getting paid (but hey, if I had to get a contractor it would have cost me more then just the materials). I also normally spend around 14 to 16 hours a day in front of my PC so in the beginning it was also hard for me to push through and "just do it"
Anyway, what I noticed while doing this kind of work was that I had time to let my mind wander. And you start thinking about stuff you never think about while you are working on your PC. When your on the PC you are focussed on your task (or you are procrastinating ) and there is no room in your brain to think about other stuff then what you are doing.
But when you are working with your hands, your mind just enters this kind of zen idle standby null mode and it begins to wander.
And that is when great ideas are born!
Well, I have been working outside since I was 10. (Now, 21) Mostly doing home renovations between, -20 C plus wind chill and in 35 C + Humidex. So I feel yeah man.
The knowledge I have learned (mainly home maintenance, upgrades and "QUALITY of work" will definitely be applied in the future and even in promotion in IM if I have too, plus I will save a lot of money in the future.
I don't want to continue this for the rest of my life which lead me to IM about 5 years ago. I'm doing alright and diversifying my income as I go but what I'm getting at is this.
"If you can make $100 - $150 a day or more CASH while banking on IM, why the hell not ".
It gives you some time to get away from the PC and enjoy nature , plus it makes you appreciate how well you have it working on IM in a controlled environment.
