Wordspress VS Medium?

WordPress with your own domain. Medium could close your account at anytime. Plus, a lot of readers hate Medium for their popup paywalls.

I think wp, or even better; yii framework (but that is offtopic). You could still have a medium blog where you post the gist of your latest post, and link back to your wp blog.
Why? Because wp (your own hosted wp, not wp.com) gives you full freedom to change anything, while medium just lets you do so little.

Wordpress is a CMS. You can build your own website/blog. Design it however you want, different themes, you are the admin.
Medium is a publishing platform. People write articles/tutorials/whatever to share it with other people. You are just an author.
Depends. Medium can be great to build a reputation, but then you need to deliver great content. If you want a personal blog go with Wordpress.

Because its extremely limited. You cannot install themes and plugins unless you upgrade to a paid plan. The blog is not yours and you're subject to their rules. When you host it yourself, the site is yours, you own the content and are free to do pretty anything you want.
Ok, so if paying for their paid plans is not an issue and my content is going to be whiter than white, there is no reason not to use wp.com?

It depends on what you mean "headache". I personally love setting up and maintaining my own hosting (and I mean through SSH, not cpanel). That way I have full control over the sites I host. For a newbie though, the managed hosts may be better. Even then, I would suggest to use a third party wp host like wpx; mostly because I have not used wp premium yet. I have never used wpx either, but @MisterF recommends them, and he is one of the few members I trust here. So, go with wpx if you don't want to self host your sites.

You will not have full control in case of medium and thus I will suggest you to go with WordPress only.

WP no doubts about it. But you need good SEO tools to do something with it.

I guess it can be convinient for some people. Go ahead, if in the future you need to scale your blog you can always migrate it.

There is one CRITICAL point about Medium that a few IMers miss is that Medium is a Social Journalism platform; It is not a IM platform. In other words, it if not platform designed for Internet Marketers to hawk their offersl, products or services.
Writing and posting SEO based articles that offer little to no reader postive content, won't get you much
The best IMers use it as a:
- Parasite site
- Website engagement site
- Another source of organic traffic, (they currently boast of having 120 million readers)
That stated, I WOULD NOT under any circumstances use Medium as a, "Money Site."

Medium is a platform. You can write there and gather a following. Honestly, for a new writer that is better. You can get featured and just get followers easier than your own domain blog.
Medium is high DA as well. It is good to use it as a tool.
