How many products? is the another use to the site other than ecommerce? How customized do you want your site to be?

It's not a simple this or that question.
 
Depends on your technical skills and how much you wanna customize. Shopify's easier to get started with, but WordPress gives you way more control if you're willing to learn.
 
Shopify is more intuitive and will save you a lot of time if you're just starting to create an online shop or website. But it's more expensive than wordpress in my opinion.
 
Shopify is good, but if you have a team or knowledge, or you want to take full control on your website, try WordPress WooCommerce.


For more pro level, you can try Laravel eCommerce scripts.
 
WordPress + Woocommerce for sure
Shopify charges you money to be potentially banned in the future
 
If you have a good technical knoweledge this is the best configuration for SEO and optimisation ...
WordPress + WooCommerce + AWS EC2 + Autoscaling + Loadbalancer + S3 + Cloudfront.

It depends on:
  1. If you want to control all your content and data; choose for WC.
  2. If you want ease and an easy to setup; go with Shopify.
  3. However, WP gives you more control and flexibility compared to Shopify IMHO.
 
Wordpress and WooCommerce, if you have advanced knowledge, are more versatile for SEO.

The both are good platform, but i recommend you using Shopify if you wanted to sell maybe digital product or Dropshipping product.

WordPress is highly recommend if you want to sell Service or Booking Like Restaurant or barber website
 
It is dependent on how knowledgeable about technology you are and how much you want to change things. It's easier to start with Shopify, but if you're ready to learn, WordPress gives you a lot more power.

But is digital product easily to have shopify payment holds?
 
Shopify to the max. I was able to use Shopify Capital the other day which helped a lot.
 
if you want to customize shopify it is a pain in the ass.
 
Shopify is easier for beginners to get started with, offering a user-friendly interface and built-in features.
