WordPress Or Shopify

it really comes down to ownership vs convenience. shopify is faster to launch and easier to maintain, but you’re always playing by their rules.
wordpress + woocommerce takes more setup, but you control the data, the seo, and the stack long term.
if someone plans to scale or customize later, wordpress usually ages better. if they just want to sell fast, shopify wins easy

I have used WooFommerce, Magento to and Shopify.

We have a fairly extensive site. Between collections and products over 6000 pages… management speaking Shopify is better, SEO I don’t use any plugin if you know what you are doing, the only complains of the shitty blog Shopify has but I managed to do a reverse proxy run blog.domain.com to domain.com/blog

Shopify collective has been nice, UGC agencies can put the order directly in Shopify for collabs, Shopify Capital..

shopify any day but wordpress only if you want to control everything.

If you don't have a team, Shopify would be better as WordPress/WooCommerce needs maintenance

WordPress is suitable if you know a little about programming, while Shopify is an easy and quick option.

Shopify is easier and it is optimized for selling, + they have some deals with ChatGPT (like showing your products inside ChatGPT), so it you will likely sell more using Shopify. However you are always at their mercy (they may suspend your account at will), you don't have the freedom you have on WordPress/WooCommerce. WordPress also has a lot of useful plugins/themes for free, while with Shopify Apps - they are mostly paid.
