Wisdom tooth extraction

I just had one of my wisdom teeth on my lower jaw removed and it was rather uncomfortable and complicated, even had to remove some parts of my bone...took more than one hour. Got 3 injections for the pain. Was kinda scared and was shaking all the time (had a really, really bad experience from my childhood), felt extremely uncomfortable or I would even say anxious. Normally I can handle pain well, but tooth extraction just hits different...especially when the tooth was quite deep.....

Still have one more to remove (other side).

Now I am thinking about sedation. Has anyone here tried sedation before? Did it help you with anxiety? Was it worth it?
Ojojoj xD

Man:
-removed 4 wisdom, it's very comfortable compared to other things! xD
-removed 3x 7th
-cut 2x 1th and exchange with porcelain zirconium dental crowns
-put porcelain into both 2th
-few canal treatments

and cream de la cream, root tip preparation

1. Scalpel cut
2. Cut the changed bone
3. Stitching up the wound

Zero sedation, just injections ;)

I had all the 3 removed a half year ago, two of them were impacted, so had to go through surgery, no sedation for me too, removed one each week, because the dentist refused to do so in one set, one of them was severely impacted (hardly visible above the gum) that It took an hour to remove, had 3 injections as well, and he had to even cut thin parts of the tooth next to it to allow for space to get it removed. Just watch out for the first week post surgery, and take precautions, because complications are the worst.
Had wisdom teeth extracted, and it was painful, but the worst was when I broke a front tooth, and the nerve was hanging out.
It was like a thin thread. The Dentist wound it around and pulled it out, I almost fainted (I was a child/teenager at the time).

I always wanted them to give me laughing gas, but they never did.
If you repeat it again, just find local dentist specified in wisdom extraction.
It cannot be normal dentist, but experienced surgeon.
My were complicated too, but it took <10 minutes. The woman who was making it was 70 year+ with 40 years of experience removing them.
Do not go to young surgeons after studies.

I got both sides removed 6-7 years ago. It was painful. But manageable.

Eat lots of icecream and relax for a week.

Try to avoid pain killers as much you can after the procedure.

I also have 2 crowns in the other teeth so i was already used to these procedures

Oh man, I had the same hit happening to me when I was a teenager. Had an accident and the front tooth broke. Since then I feel extremely anxious whenenver I go to the dentist.

Yeah, first I asked the doctor to remove both of the tooth in the same session. But after the complications me and him agreed to not do it. My other tooth is visible, but goes really deep into the jaw. Right now i dont feel any pain, I only take antibiotics 3x daily. But yeah, I really wanna do sedation...

Wow, thats a lot. I also had 2 crowns done, veneers, fillings, root canal, etc. also without injection.

For me its not really about the pain that much. Its just this absolute disgusting feeling of someone grabbing your head and that feeling of someone wants to rip off your jaw.

even now, one day after, i dont really feel muich pain. didnt take any pain killers too.

Then for next time find professionalist. Wisdom tooth are not rip off procedure.
Every surgeon who have experience in that, is cutting tooth to 4-5 parts before remove them.

Really? For me the guy took a plier and ripped it out the classic way you can see on TV

Bro, I have also experienced that crazy thing, I advise you to go to the hospital to transfer to Dentistry, they will inject you with anesthetic, when they pull out the remaining tooth, you will not feel any pain anymore.

haha
To be honest, I have not seen a street dentist like this my whole life. I have only seen these photos and some vlogs of these street teeth pullers :D

Most of the foreign vloggers who usually show this side of India are usually mentally and financially bankrupt with low self-esteem; hence, they choose to go to the poorest neighborhoods in a country. Thats just BDSM tourism ;)

Anyway, to answer your other question, all dentists and medical doctors of other feilds here have to have proper certifications that are also recognised worldwide; its illegal to open a shop like that on the street and pull teeth like that. This could probably happen in a remote part of a poor Indian state (there are a few states in India that are that poor) similar to the US (old coal countries) or anywhere in the world for that matter.

Visit India, and you will be surprised. ;)

Every wisdom tooth and also 2x 7th tooth
Surgeon took dental drill. Cut it with 5 seconds drilling on half, then if needed cut to more pieces.
Then parts were removed gently one by one.

I hope they atleast made you a X-ray photo :>

yes of course they did. they were not a fraud or rip off. actually they were really professional. i guess it depends on the case.

It also depends to skills and experience. For example I have dentist in my city, who refuse to remove any teeths because they don't have experience with that.

The biggest shit was for me sewing the wound when injection stopped to work, but I told my self I can take it :D

It was a multidisciplinary dental clinic, they had dentists, orthodontists & oral surgeons all in the place, their fees were expensive but I'm paranoid & prefer to pay the extra fees :D .

Hah, I am avoiding such places. You are like in factory, next, next, next because they need to pay rentals and loans for these fancy clinics. I am just looking for average places. Good equipment but not clinic in fancy building ;)

It depends on the situation of the tooth, one of the 3 I removed wasn't impacted and fully grown above the gum, so they just took it off, took only 5 min.

Actually, it was the opposite, place wasn't crowded and appointments were respected, waiting is for 1-3 min, and they have multidisciplinary, which means otherwise If you've got a complicated problem you'd have to move between dentists and oral surgeons, but they have it all on place.

the after-treatment pain is no problem for me....the problem is the anxiety and feeling during the treatment. the feeling of getting your jaw ripped out....
i know how you feel i hate the fucking smell of the dentist place itself, had an infected 7 and 8 anesthesias didn't help, i literally had tears in my eyes out of pain while he was pulling it out, was like 20 minutes long

three-stooges.gif Try this. It Won't hurt. :)

Update:

A few days ago I finally got my second wisdom tooth extracted. I really tried to avoid it and to keep postponing it, but then I was like "f*ck it, lets just get it done." For this time, I chose the oxygen sedation + local anesthesia.

Here is my final experience:

Normal extraction with local anesthesia:

Took around 1 hour. Got multiple injections with local anesthesia. Felt extremely anxious, my body was shaking all the time. This definitely made things harder, not only for me, but also for the doctor. It was a bad experience.

Extraction with oxygen sedation + local anesthesia:

I went to a different clinic this time (because they offered oxygen sedation unlike the one I went to before). First the doctor had put on the oxygen mask on my nose. I didn't feel much of a difference so he increased the gas flow. I felt dizzy but was fully in control of my thoughts and consciousness. It kinda felt like you are in a delirium, locked into your body, but not nice much of whats going on outside. Somehow comparable of feeling extremely sleepy but forcing yourself to stay awake. The local anesthesia really helped as well.

Total procedure took around 30 minutes. The dentist tried to pull it out in the classic way for three times until it finally went out. I didn't feel anything. At one point, I didn't even notice anymore that he is pulling (there was a blanket above my eyes) until I heard a slight crack in my mouth. Then he removed the blanket from my eyes and I was like "Oh, finished already?" because I really didn't notice anything at all. Also he kept talking in Thai to the other staff and I didn't understand shit + there was a slight Disney background music which added a bit of absurdity. I was laying there thinking "wtf is he talking? wtf is this song? from what movie is this song? why the fuck are they playing this?"

So, yes guys, I would 100% recommend you to do the oxygen sedation if you feel anxious or scared of dentists.

It really is a completely different experience from having the normal local anesthesia.

Yes
went in to get all 4 taken out at once.
got sedated
woke up, all done
after an hour or so after waking up; docs to say its ok and got discharged
went on my day as per usual.
-----
On the flip side
Had a friend who had to take 1 out
didn't get sedated, i went in with them, and waited for them in the waiting room for a few hours (since they wasn't allowed to drive due to "surgery")
they went in fine, came out shitless scared cuz being awake during the ENTIRE procedue
fuck that sounds like hell.
It's why I paid the extra to sleep like a baby and get the whole thing sorted lol

Can confirm.
without sedation = hell
with sedation = business as usual and no problem
