Will the Dollar Collapse Soon?

They have so much debt the only solution is to print shitloads of cash to 1. pay off the debt and 2. reduce the value of the remaining debt. Dollar devaluation is surely the USA's only way out of this, their national debt is freaking colossal. I am just worried what is going to happen the affiliate programs, will the merchants raise their prices in line with the decrease in the value of the dollar, so that our commissions will be, in real terms, the same? Or are the goods manufactured in the USA and less likely to pass on the full price rises? Or will wages go up in line with inflation so that cost of manufacturing US goods is comparable to imports?

I haven't seen any goods made in the USA in years, unless your buying a craftsman socket set. Interesting too is that the cost of cotton is up by like 150% !!!

All I can say is... I hope U.S. will be back in power asap.
I don't want China, India, or any other countries to take over and become the superpower.

Why?
Because MOST IM's income is from AMERICA!

me too.. but the only reason usa is so profitable is because from day 1 when we turn on the tv we are tricked into buying more wal-mart type chinese products/fast food shit than we actually need.. constantly upgrading our cell phones/ipods ect every year and throwing old (working) stuff away. gotta stay cool here

The one thing the US has going for it, and the rest of the world in completely screwed over because of, is the fact that unlike every other country we actually borrow money in our own currency, and every one knows it.

That means that unlike most other countries, we actually can not go bankrupt, at least in the terms of what we have already borrowed.

So in the end if we convince other countries to loan us another 30 or 40 trillion dollars, what we can do is crank up the printing presses and print it out, thus paying off our debt.

Unfortunately, its our stupidest politicians that have decided to follow that idea, and they are just hoping that when we meet the real debt limit (that's when they can no longer find another sucker in the room to loan the US some money) they will either be dead or completely invested in another currency.

Given that I live in the US, I think its time to invest in Guns, ammunition, bottled water, and beenie weenies (those things never go bad)...

Well, US gov can't pay off the debt by printing money. The more they print, the more they owe to Federal Reserve.

Imagine this, you(gov) borrow 1 dollar from your father(feds), now you owe your father 1 dollar. You can't print money yourself because your father is holding the money printing machine. Yes, you can ask father to print more money to pay debt to others but you owe more to father.

How to pay off your money to father? Many ways, but definitely not borrow from father and then pay it back to him. :D

The winner is always father. (Brilliant bankers that founded Feds)

Nobody mentioned Bitcoin yet? It's a crurency designed to deflate, not to inflate.

Google weusecoins (i can't post URL's yet)

Could become usefull for blackhat and whitehat stuff, I already have some websites earning Bitcoin donations!

I am also from europe, and i am thinking of only accepting europayments because with e dollar prices i cant make a lot and i am worried i wil lose money

Like those financial analyst used to say, "We are on a double dip recession."

The subprime mortgage is just the beginning, I guess.
Imagine the Euro and US currency collapses... holy!
I think it would be more worst than the great depression, imo.

Worststill, the U.S. media is always trying to cover the facts up.
I remember reading MSNBC and they announce that unemployment rate fell. At first most readers would swallow that without doubting anything. Until one of the comment when a guy exposed saying that the statistics are all "tweaked" to only get the results WE want to see.

Wow, that's insane. I didn't think of it like that. I knew that the Fed wasn't owned by the govt but I didn't really think it would ever be a relationship like that. For example I thought the Fed would be on the 'team' of the govt, while not being owned i.e. controlled by the govt I thought it would exist to aid the govt not to enslave the entire nation in debt.

The only reason why the dollar has any value is because the peoples faith in the dollar. Read "modern money mechanics" straight from the federal reserve.

Watch this video too it will break it down for you:

go to youtube type in: Money As Debt

Looks like a cartoon.

Two words: Weimar Republic.

They knew what they were doing would destroy the dollar. That was their plan.

Sounds crazy, but it's true.

Economy is going up. I think it will balance out soon.
I'm an Econ major studying macro-economics and ALOT of the "theories" in this thread are complete BS.

Currency is only a number in a computer somewhere. The government can and is "printing" money (idk who said that the US gov can't but they do...). This boosts the economy by devaluing the currency. By devaluing the currency it stimulates exports b/c it's cheaper for other economies to buy from us. Eventually this will boost the economy enough that the dollar will regain power. It's going to happen..

The dollar is NOT backed by gold/silver. This is the same for almost every other major currency out there since the 50's. The only thing the dollar is backed by is consumer confidence. If confidence in it goes down, then the exchange rate for it goes down. This thread is just bringing the confidence down more and therefor making you guys lose more money ;)

And this mindset right here is why America is screwed. College econ is the FARTHEST thing from real world economics. If your "theory" was true, there wouldn't have been a Weimer Republic Hyperinflation.

If College Econ professors were so good at economics, why aren't they making a killing in the markets?

Because they don't go by the markets. They go by the textbook.

Having an econ professor teach you about real world economics is like having a morbidly obese individual teach you how to work out and eat right.

Simply because its not visually apparent, people don't see this obvious flaw with pseudo-intellectuals.

If your "theory" is correct, would silver have gone from $35 to $48 in one month? And $17 to $48 in year?

I could not agree more...
Dollar IS NOT backed up by gold for like 30-40 years, I think in 1970's approx it stopped to be backed up in gold.

I think that there are no countries in the World that have currency backed up in gold. This was like this back in history, but not any more...

Regarding topic, well we'll leave that to big boys but I'm pretty sure that US will not allow to be broke, no matter what cost. ;)
