Will SEO exist in 5 years?

It’s gonna be AIEO soon. Every search engine giant is jumping into the A.I bandwagon so

SEO will always exist. But let's imagine, if it won't and search will be via chatGPT or similar AI. Most likely, ways will be sought to circumvent or adjust to this condition of affairs. It would be a simple change in the rules of the game, nothing more

SEO will stay that is the main revenue from google remove SEO will mean change their all bussines model and can't be done in 5 years because if it doesn't work how do you return from a big loss of money.

As AI becomes more prevalent, it may actually increase the demand for skilled SEO professionals who can adapt and optimize their strategies to keep up with the latest trends and best practices.

exactly where it's now. If Google falls, other SEs will take its place, so we will keep doing SEO for the new "google"

As long as internet exists people will continue looking stuff up on it, so Search Engines will still exist in one form or another
but these SEs will use AI to show answers to the searchers, no need for a blog

maybe the introduction of AI will segregate the market between those who like AI, and those who don't, and as a result, a new type of google will appear to appease the non-AI fans.

maybe the governments finally get their shit together (highly doubtful, though) and penalize all AI writers in some way... or limit their functionality to only certain niches... or maybe the same governments force companies who use AI to pay a share of income to the creators of the content that their AI steals it from

maybe the AI will be a temporary fad and people will understand that you can't rely on the AI to diagnose a health issue that has diverse causes...

a lot of maybes..

All of this is to say that I don't have an answer to your concern, but I'm also not stressed about it :)

Like ask yourself a question, what is SEO?
We deliver information to search engines (now for google, but in 5 years maybe there will be other players) .
What information do we deliver? Why those engines need to provide this information?
In summary if people search for information you have to deliver this. The SEOs work is to move that information to the customers by doing it better than their competitors.
Means it will be hard, but the demand will be there. SEO was also hard before 20 years comparing to the market then. It was hard before 10 years, and it will be hard in 5 years.

The short answer is absolutely.

But here's a caveat: It won't exist in a form that we're familiar with.

This is what throws off a lot of people.

SEO is all about getting content on a website you own to get processed easily and painlessly by Google so it gets included in their index as well as controlling on-page and off-page factors so that your content appears near the top of search results for your target keywords.

If you pay close attention to my description, all of this is external to Google.

The future of SEO is going to be spoon feeding direct information to searchers.

You got a glimpse of this in ChatGPT.

I'm convinced that ChatGPT is not the final iteration or version of this format.

But even with ChatGPT, we can see that the traditional search result of a bunch of links with some descriptions is over.

This is going to be the future of SEO.

The format is going to change.

But the operations of trying to get your information to rank and trying to get it into the index are still going to be the same.

The battle for SEO will be how you can get your dataset included in the data source indexes of search engines of the future.

Do you see how this works?

This is not as easy as you think.

Google or its successor will have high requirements regarding their admission or acceptance of your dataset.

At the very least, they would ask:

"Do you really know this stuff?

Can you prove your expertise?

How long have you been in the industry?

Who do you know?

Have you published books?

Do you have certifications?

And so on and so forth."

It's going to be interesting how costly this shift from open data in the form of websites to closed databanks will be.

But you best believe that there's still a tremendous amount of money to be made.

When they present information from their databanks, they're going to have to show citations.

They're going to have to show that this is legit, and that's where your links come in.

And when people click on those links, since it has already been vetted as "authoritative," you can then advertise to those people.

I truly believe that with a ChatGPT format makeover, search results will actually do a better job when it comes to convincing searchers to buy than current search models.

From one side, Google is pushing updates every month and from another side everyone is coming up with new AI tool. Will this make SEO extinct in next 5 years?
The search engine optimization industry will become more challenging but stay the same.
