Will SEO exist in 5 years?

Somehow it seems impossible to me. But if so, then SEO will be replaced by something else. People will always be looking for information, the only question is how.

Five reasons SEO will die (just as it already did for several times )

1. internet will die.
2. www will die.
3. websites will die.
4. no websites, no internet, so no search engines.
5. no search engines, no search engine optimisation.

Alternate scenario
1. People will stop visiting websites.
2. So, people will stop searching for useful information on the internet/www.
3. Nobody will write content on the internet and create websites; so there will be no websites.
4. No websites, no information to search/find, so no search engines.
5. No search engines, no search engine optimisation.

SEO will exist forever. The AI cannot come up with its own information. But it will definitely get insanely hard, so much that even starting out with a low comp niche sites will cost 10s of thousands of dollars to rank.
So most of the BHW members will go out of work because of this? Blogging will be replaced by other ways in that case.

AI might be the answer if it is worked upon with efficiency. The biggest search engines are also now moving towards AI.

I think SEO is never extinct but Day by day it will be difficult, so we have to update with google.

I think only Video never dies since AI can't create video like human, it can't go to street and talk, it can't sit inside a car and talk.
people start making video sharing information, Google or whatever will scrape the videos, transcribe them and show on serp.
There are bunch of extensions to add chatgpt to google search already, millions of people are using these tools to search, so they won't access the website.
Accept the truth that SEO is dying, it's not already, but less people search on google nowadays. To buy things people tend to search on Tiktok for human review. Soon everything will be on video.

AI cannot good videos as of now. Wait for sometime and then we will talk.

I think no. SEO might undergo massive changes but I think it would never die in the next 5 years.

When Technology evolves >> Search Engines evolves >> SEO's evolve.
In a nutshell SEO won't die in my opinion rather it will reinvent and upgrade itself.

This will not always be true. Sometime technological advancement will be in form of replacement of currently used mechanisms.

Agreed but, what I said is based on the fact how things have been running for years now, SEO keeps becoming tougher with time but doesn't die.
It's just I don't see these big search engine giants falling apart sooner.
It was always said apps are the future and it will kill websites but nothing of that sort has happened till date.

The business of search engines is only till there are users. If users are able to search in a better way using some other tool, we may see even giants like google being dead gradually.

That's what I am trying to say "may".
Thing is these are giants and giants don't die that easily.
Hard truth when end will seem to be near they won't hesitate to play dirty.
So in my opinion even if they die someday that day won't be sooner.

Yes, but these are giants so they will expand themselves to meet the new standard of search.
Any just because they are so big they always have the resources for the expansion.
Also the challenge needs to come from another giant or else it will end the old way where the giant acquires/ shuts down the competition.

Will restaurants exist if everyone can afford and have access to a robot that can cook anything they want ?

It's unlikely that SEO will become extinct in the next 5 years, it will only become more sophisticated with understanding natural language

ChatGPT does have a limitation for now: It doesn't have up-to-date information. For someday, it is possible some agile AI chatbot takes another severe traffic from web, and some brilliant web-3 platform takes another traffic. But there is an abiding fact: as the web goes state-of-the-art, the pie gets bigger, not harming that much SE and SEO's pie(in aspect of proportion, I don't have any idea of quantity of pie atm).

It's very likely that SE will get rapidly smarter with AI and SEO goes harder and harder, but even then, most of the metrics important now will be important then.

So I'll just keep it up trying harder and harder.
