Hi

I started a website w .info on a semi competitive (iPhone niche)


I never planned on building up the site. But eventuAlly I I added 20 + pages of content And lots of links

The site has a PR 2 but it's a .info.

Recently the site stopped ranking and I think it has to do w the fact that it's .info

Do u think it's worth buying another domain and redirecting ?

if the current domain pages taking more time to index and not ranking well. Then there must be some panda hit. So better create new domain and transfer the content and 301 the domain.

i have successfuly ranked .info domain in various niches and they still maintain there rankings.
its not due to .info

I have to disagree ! I have few .info domains ranking top 3. (but most of mine are .com)

Never done anything with .info, but there's one at #1 in one of my niches, it's been there for months and I can't get past it.

I confirm that .info domains does not create any problem.
I've many websites .info and they rank well. I think is something related to panda or anyway due to a penalization.
Before buying a new domain and make 301 redirects, try to understand the problems and solve it... if not you will have to buy new domains every X days.

I use a .info domain. In fact its a static website (html pages, about 4 in total) with unique content, images. Ranks #3 for a medium competitive term. Its all about how you build your seo strategy for a website.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fact it's a .info domain. Try adding more content and backlinks and you should get back to the SERPs soon.

I have 2 .info domains that are ranking for my keywords (both in top 3). I have never believed anyone who says that they cant be ranked. Ok, I will admit that having a TLD does help a little but not alot tbh

it got nothing to do with your TLD
it must be google dance
usually your rank drops and its back to same place
wait for a week and see if it is back to same position
if it doesn't then get a new domain

I have to agree with those saying .info does not make a big difference in rankings. We have 100's of .info's ranking for 1000's of terms some very competitive "location + industry" types.

It's not because it's a .info however (from experiene) i have always found .com and .co.uk to rank the easyiest, no idea why. When you say "Not ranking" do you mean not in the top 1000 or just not where to want it to be?

Yes, if you provide only information about it. Any button, affiliate, CPA, etc...will make it going nowhere....

i had a .info which was there in top 5 for more than a year.

It has gone down to 2nd page rank 15th.

Just felt like commenting this.
