Of course, Google always loves new contents. Content is the main factor in SEO. So, you can expect a little bump in SERP. It is based on your site authority.

as long as the content is keyword focused and in line with your on page, you may have a bump on your ranks or a little fluctuation.

No it won't affect the SERP. Making the new unique content will not make any problem in the SEO.

Absolutely. Content may not be King but if you keep things updated Google will reward you for doing so.
