Will a 10000 word article rank better?

Hey BHW,

This days I'm thinking of making my article bigger (10k word) but I don't know if a reader will spend so much time to read such article even if it is important.
+ We all know big articles ranks better but what if it is bigger than 10k...
Any ideas?

It's not about word count. If you have nothing else to say and you have told everything there is about that topic, even 3000 words will rank good. Everyone can make article 10k+ words, but they have to be interesting and covering everything about a certain topic without wordiness.

I would say, no, 10k article won't rank better.
 
Strong and OPTIMIZED content within 1500 words will rank good.
Low and not relevant content within 15000 words will not rank. Maybe a little, but nope.
 
Content is king for ranking the websites, if you write on interesting niche and that are unique and above 10k, it will beneficial to crawling and indexing with google if your article loved by people then traffic generates automatically.
 
You can do 10K words, but be sure it's interesting and high-quality. Use A LOT of images and videos in between the paragraphs.
 
leave that 10k words article to professional people like neilpatel, backlinko, search engine land, search engine journal and moz seo. why i am saying this because may be your reader won't engaged with it as your website have no authority like those professional blog websites have. if your readers of your blog engage well with short articles of around 2k to 3k then it's better to write short and don't worry about ranking there are a lot of ways to rank your articles and 2k to 3k article is not a short article. It's very healthy article and enough to rank well in google. by the many people engage with images, infographics and videos so must put that in your articles because it's also a part of good ranking.
 
Someone with solid SEO would outrank that 10,000-word piece with 400 words.
 
From a user perspective, no! I would just think tl;dr; and leave if I see a huge article lol (and the site owner will get higher bounce rate eventually). 10K is wayyyy too much.
 
It would work like a charm for 500 serarch but for 1000+ search you would need 20k+ word long article or even more. Better you write 50k+ word long article. Higher the search volume more the content.
 
User's tend to be overwhelmed by word count over 5k already
They're also less likely to be shared
 
Not Much Matter.
Highest I go for 3k words. If the topic is so board it's better to split into 2 article or better to use silo structure to cover everything.
 
600 - 1000 words article can also rank better if site good quality backlinks. I have seen sites with DA 30 or less are ranking on Google in a competitive niche.
 
I remember Neil Patel has a case study on it. 2500-3000 words rank the best. Anything higher doesn't give you an edge for SEO.
 
i just rewrote an article along one years ago
it got more than 70k visits and ranked well in google ,better than the original one
has alot of engagment
with no backlinks ,just anew site 0 DA and outranked a high authority site
