Please help


My wife and I have been self employed since our early twenties. We have two daughters, 10 and 12. I have a father who is living with untreatable cancer and a recent quadruple bypass.


We work our assess off daily in our retail store. We struggle to sell products from our store online. We know how to work hard and smart when we remember too.


Recently our market has been flooded by competitors. We are finding despite our best efforts, we have to work even harder to maintain and we are losing ground. My daughters rarely get to spend time with us, my father is still having to work to keep his insurance even though his health is bad.


I need to do something about this. I've been reading and watch everything I can about making money online. There is a lot of options, overwhelmingly so. Things are getting hard to make ends meet, and before it gets worse I'd like to get something solid in place as a safety net. My family is suffering and we need a change.


Please, can someone direct me on how to do this properly to create recurring passive income. I'm willing to do all the work and pay for everything. Just get me to a comfortable place with it and I'll share a royalty with you from what you help me earn. We can negotiate that out. I need to do this fast though, though we have income from our business, trends are unstable there and I do not feel comfortable relying on that income any longer.

Honestly, that's what I call a cool story bro. Such a riveting tale, I honestly copy and pasted it to word, saved on my hard drive, backed it up on a jump drive, drove to the bank, put the jump drive in the safe deposit box, and will leave it there until my kids turn about 12 (when they can actually state their age, and ask what it is I'm showing them), when I will pick it up, put it in an old USB drive reader and relay this cool story to them and tell them, "kids, this is what a cool story should look and sound like...not like the stories your generation tells.

If every business owner decided to give up just because there were competitors then we wouldn't have people like Trump or Buffet. Don't let yourself down, you have a business to run and "Failure is not an option". Stay positive, focus on your business, it was obviously at one point doing well before so get it back to that point. Bring in new inventory, lay off an employee or two to save on expenses, find ways to keep bringing in customers. Your family is on the line so when working on your business, remember, the families livelihood is dependent on it, if that's not enough motivation for you within itself I don't know what is.
 
this sounds just like the PM's I used to get about my Amazon thread.

I'm a single mum with 2 kids who wants passive income - can you do everything for me - and I promise I will pay you something in the future.

It is just the internet remains the wild west in some respects - that often people impersonate others and spin tales that don't represent real life.

If I were you - I would be going to work for someone else for a while and build up cash reserves ... seems you have unlimited risk to your financial health and almost no upside.

It's unlikely you'll get satisfying answers to this thread for several reasons.
People ask to be spoon-fed around here all the time. They're only met with contempt.
Mentoring is against BHW rules.
Asking how to start a passive revenue stream ASAP is an impossibly broad request. Imagine somebody asking you how to start an offline business that they don't have to attend that is profitable ASAP.
I could go on...

If you think your market is tough because it's flooded with competitors, online will be even more discouraging. Imagine your niche, but people from all over the world are competing for a slice of the pie.

Regardless, it sounds like you have something going with your online store already, even if it is struggling.
I'd recommend you expand that. You might look into SEO - a lot of people here, including myself, make the majority of their income from that. But paid traffic sounds like it might be a good option for you. A la Adwords.
It's a big topic, still. And you'll probably start getting a better understanding of that once you start researching it. But maybe hire somebody to make sure your website is as conversion-optimized as possible and start experimenting with campaigns.
That's the best answer I can give for now.

2) There are no fast & furious ways to make a recurring income online. You
need to learn the basics and do a few trial & error attempts until you start
seeing some positive results. You can avoid a good amount of error by
immersing yourself in the knowledge you gain here on BHW, but it is
important for you to know that there are no GUARANTEED ways to earn
money online . . . You just need to keep working at it and trying different
things and keep what works and throw out what doesn't work.

I'm sorry about your situation, just browse around the forum and you'll find something that will work for you.
 
I live in a town of 40k people. theres 6 Printing & Signs shops. I do work for 2 of them, even in cramped communities their still thriving. Just throwing this out there.
 
OP, regardless of whether you're telling the truth or not, threads like these don't work out too well on this forum. And for good reason. No one is ever going to spoon feed you to make money. I started of from nowhere believe it or not, but with determination and consistency I managed to pull it off. I can tell you this from experience: there is no rapid or quick way to make money these days online. Everything is going to require work. Don't fall into the traps of believing that you can become a millionaire overnight or any of that garbage.

The best you can do right now is pick something you want to try and just give it a shot. You're going to make mistakes, and those mistakes are going to help you. Don't expect any rapid solutions, because there just aren't any. I'm sorry for your situation, but what you really need to do now is work even harder instead of waiting around and hoping for a miracle to occur, because quite frankly - there is no quick way to make money online.
 
I appreciate the encouragement. Our situation is real. I understand that's always suspect, but the even the trolling posts here have at the very least allowed me to laugh a bit. I don't mind hard work, I'm just tired of customer traffic limited by geographic boundries , losing business to the internet and being tied down to our business's location, high overhead and the daily grind. Working online has a different set of freedoms that are looking very appealing after doing retail for 18 years.

I just need some starter, kindling step by step that I know is going to work. I can scale and build after that, but right now I need help focusing in on something I can do with my skills set or outsource through fiverr, etc.
 
What country are you in? Do you have any sales experience?

Dude, take it back using the internet... there are tremendous ideas on this forum to do EXACTLY that.
 
I'm not going to be an asshole like most of the people that answered. Let me just say that I'm in the same tough spot and the only thing I know is that you can make your situation better with 2/3 weeks of non-stop promotion. Then hopefully you'll have the motivation to continue. Bing ads seem to work good for some people, If that's a reasonable investment for you, you should considerer reading some threads about them.
 
You should look into PPC probably bing ads or maybe Adwords.
