Why wordpress for SEO

Yes, If you look now days at the websites on the web you will find many of them are using Wordpress cms, and it is because of it is very easy to manage and have user friendly Admin panel so you can make changes on the website.
The most important thing of the Wordpress is that it gives us very useful ready made plugins for Search Engine Optimization, and that plugins are also search engine friendly so it also help you to increase your ranking.

Yes agree i love wordpress,its simple and fast.And i think that with all these SEO plugins there is no problem.

Wordpress looks better and is waay easier to manage... plus save money and time on coding each and every page.

Since when people need to know HTML in order to do IM?
i think you are confusing IM with web designing. do i have to know HTML to make a video and do IM? or shall i start building amazing websites to sell something on e-bay?
i think you are a little bit confused mate. and don't forget that if you got money to spend and a nice idea of making money, you can always hire a freelancer to do the HTML stuff for you.

@ OP, Wordpress is more convenient because of plugins you use and good themes that are available. but there is no rule on that.
go ahead, use whatever u think you like (optimize it well) and start getting monkeys

This. I wonder if google looks at source code and if it has any effect on ranking. I have a feeling it doesn't, but you never know. WP is a great way to setup a website for those who aren't HTML/CSS/PHP savvy. I still prefer coding some websites from scratch to brush up on my skills

Think of this: A CMS framework such as WP outputs PHP, HTML, CSS. It is the same PHP that you can manually code.

One of my projects is php/html based, and its about 5 years old. Recently I put a "blog" and write 3 articles. 3 days later when I type "site:mysite.com: 2, 3, and 4th results are pages from the blog so that tells me - google rank WP better than well optimised website

who told you wordpress will give you better results?
it doesn't matter what platform you use, it's all about your seo skills.
the reason most people use wordpress is that it's so damn easy, and there is a premade plugin for everything.

Plugins make things easy. Auto image tags, guided SEO for meta/title/keyword density, canonical, etc. Hand coded you have to manage all of that yourself. Knowing how to hand code is step 1. Knowing when to let a system do it for you is step 2. Step 3 is profit! $$$$$

I say in this order because knowing HTML means you know how to structure a website. H1, H2, H3, ETC. + Canonical, + Proper Title Length, Clean Code, Meta, Strong, Italic, Blockquotes, Links, Etc. Then you take that knowledge and find a nice well coded simple theme that follows your coding standards. Then it's mostly hands off except specific tweaks and coding to your posts. The knowledge of web and coding will help anyone put together a page, even if they don't code it themselves. I use WordPress, HEAVILY. And I'll say this. 15 years ago I coded everything by hand in notepad. Hell, I even code everything by hand in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver just structures things nicely and finished my tags for me. Speeds things up. I also do a lot of editing php and css files for Wordpress. Knowing both will be a great help. Know when to let the tools do your work. But never let them decide for you.

Wordpress is good for SEO because Google loves wordpress. WP got more functionalists which makes everything simple. Before CMS creating a website and publishing posts was a tedious job only a Tech Geek could do it.
In Wordpress you have some great plugins for SEO like All in one SEO pack which will make your website SEO friendly.

Wordpress is very easy to set up, has decent SEO structure, greatly customizable, etc.

Good Structure, Well Organized & Easier To Browse, These are just some of the reasons for Google To love WP.

simple easier to do seo period because of the plugins and how quick you get caught buy Google little evil bots.

wordpress is like a Gap store. You can find hundreds even thousands of different things to wear on.

But having these things custom fit by a tailor will cost you incredibly much money and time.

Html and css are great for building quality sites. A lot of the stuff done here is not based on quality sites but on a minimum of quality with lots of SEO tools.

Most people here are going to be for WP because they have never used anything else.

Wordpress alone meta title, meta desc, meta tags, RSS, etc.

There are hundreds of top quality Wordpress SEO plugins that help you manage your sitemap, and other features.

The themes alone make it worth it to use WordPress. You visitors probably aren't used to seeing plain HTML and CSS websites...

As a coder I would have to say that using Wordpress or not is your own decision. In most cases Wordpress is better, but in some cases coding your own site is better.

Wordpress :
+ Don't use any $$$
+ Very easy to set up
+ Very quick to set up
+ Got a lot of beautiful themes, with cheap prices
+ Got a lot of plugins who can make your life easier
- Some modifications require knowledge in CSS/Javascript
- Basic installation is unsafe in terms of security
- Wordpress site can't handle a lot of concurrent users.

PHP/HTML sites
+ Can handle more users than WP sites
+ Easier to be changed (because you code the whole system by yourself)
+ Cleaner code
- Use a lot of $$$ (only applies if you don't know how to code, if you know how to code this also requires no $$$)
- Takes a long time to design
- Takes a longer time to code
- Very hard to do for people who don't know about coding.

My main site have daily visitors of 30-40K+, and WP couldn't handle that. The memory usage is way too high, and even with a 32 GB RAM the memory is out in no time. I code my own site, taking me around 3-4 months, I use mongoDB and Symphony, and now it works great. But on the other hand, coding your own site for sites that just get visited by 100 people in a day is a waste of your own time.

So, my conclusion is : If you have traffic less than 20-30k visitors daily, just use wordpress. Create a lot of sites with this great CMS. But if you have a big site, with lots of customer coming in, you must switch to a better website engine. With that kind of traffic I think hiring a good programmer will be easy for you. But please be reminded that a crappy programmer can make a custom CMS that is way worse than Wordpress CMS. One of my other advice is that whatever engine you use, try not use shared hosting.
