I know the average users hate follow / unfollow users because it made them feels like being used or betrayed, or something similar.
Why do some marketers hate it so much, so much that some of them make videos on Youtube or write blog post on their blog or medium to talk about how bad is follow unfollow bla blah.
Surely we know that there're much more way to grow an Instagram account, such as using the right hashtag with the best chance ranking into top posts, engaging with real people like using Garyvee $1.8 strategy, create an engagement group, post some really good content that might go viral (that takes more time and cost to create, which most small business don't have.), etc.
BUT, we can't deny the exposure given from follow / unfollow is still very effective, because people don't follw you back just because you follow them, people follow you because you got their attention and they like your content too. (At least most do, if not the follow back ratio will be shitty anyway.)
