Why paypal got limited ?

Hi there,

I want to know how paypal account get limited. What's the reason to limit?

I have verified paypal account. It's 3 months old. And it's country is Philippines. maximum payment it has received is $50. And now i thinking to get $500 to account. when i do it paypal get limit ?

please help me.

I opened a new paypal account and when it hit $1000 it got limited and I had to provide the verification documents .. maybe different amount in your country.

Two reasons:

1) They're greedy ass mf's and limiting accounts generates lots of people giving up their accounts and guess who gets to keep the cash...

2) Their algorithms detected something unusual, like you accessing out of too many physical places, unusual activity, etc....

The main reason why paypal account gets limited is if you are receiving big amount from unknown different source and without the item description..

So it is recommended to receive small amount at start and then move on to bigger amount but item description should be mentioned in each tranaction

I dont think it will get limited.
and since it is 3 months old you are on a safer side.

So it wont get limited if you receive 500$

the reason for paypal account to get limited are :

if you receive fraudulent funds.
If you get too many chargebacks.
too much personal payments in large amount.

I ran into this recently with a new PP account I setup. Everything was fine & suddenly a random "please verify" question comes up. After passing it, the account is in limited status and the options to verify it AGAIN I found irritating.

Here's how you handle it.
You begin by keeping your attitude & frustration in check, because nothing will benefit you by being crappy, and PayPal cannot even explain the security model so it's frustrating for them too. Call and explain that you suddenly noticed that limitations are on it, and your not sure what made your account change, because it was in good status the last time you were able to view it. Then comment that maybe you should have made it a business account vs personal, because you accurately provided the required information at the time you registered, and since then have made transactions with no problem, but suddenly there's a problem and that concerns you. Wait 3 seconds, and nicely ask if you have done something wrong, because you recently assisted your father in setting up a verified account and he's had a good experience, so what has went wrong???

Most likely by now the agent has offered to look into it to see what they can do, and this is when you thank them for their time & consideration.
Most likely they will return with a generic reason that references security/protection etc and the limitations have been lifted leaving the account in good status.

Remember this: If you travel, use a VPN or anything that shows variance in the IP address, THAT is what likely initiated an alert that moves the account into limited status.
If you do use VPN or move around you are best served by mentioning it to them instead of them watching your account like a cat & a mouse. If you take the few minutes to handle this concern fully, it will keep you off the radar in the future.
What most people don't get about PayPal is this. They deal with a tremendous amount of issues, and in recent years they have made effort to balance their algorithmic security with humans that can make decisions & resolve problems. So if you handle it politely, and demonstrate that your reasonable they are most likely going to "like" to help you get it right.

Same issues was last month keep documentation follow paypal rules.

Call them directly to remove the limit. Mine was detected as unusual activity as well, but then I called them and explained the situation and within an hour they removed my limit. But still, it all depends on each person situation.

No need to scare if you have varified account and the srouce by which you will get funds is accurate and correct - then no need to worry. Paypal will not do anything with your account.

I have been listening to all the flop some people are offering here. PayPal don't just limit accounts without any reasons. Whether you earn money big time or small you can still have a limited account if you act wrongly. Read the tos and follow the instructions to remove the limitation.

Paypal limit my account every time I make a transaction. Have to call them up and have my payments manually approved and the account restored every time. That's just because I'm in a foreign country, so they think my account has been hacked.

Well one obvious reason is money laundry !

PayPal has hundreds of bot triggers for limitation. Unless you have a lot of experience making PayPal accounts and facing all the possible scenarios, it will be hard to predict each trigger. The main idea is - if something looks even remotely suspicious - you get limited.

I think your verification not complete. You can contract paypal support center. You will get perfect solution. Its better for you.
