Based on my experience with my own accounts, what I read, and what I’ve observed from other accounts my theory on how the algorithm works is this:
I believe that there are traffic pools that new account will be progressing through. New videos on new account are limited to around 1k views. So in other words the algorithm will give you opportunity to prove yourself.
if you do well you’ll progress to the next traffic pool which has 5k view limit. But videos will be shown first to the people who interacted with your previous videos and your followers. If they respond well to your video then you’ll be presented to new people giving you even more views and so on.
This is why I believe fake followers and fake views don’t work in the long term and can actually harm your account. It may work from the perspective of actual real user looking at your account stats if you have thousands of fake followers then some people may follow you based on social proof. But in terms of algorithm it will show your videos to these fake followers first and they will give no interaction at all so the algorithm will assume your video is no good and it won’t be pushed to new people.
imagine you get a new job. Your employer is not going to give you the most important jobs, you’re not going to be interacting with best customers. You need to establish reputation for your self first.
I believe the single most important factor that will speed up the progression through the traffic pools is the time of posting. For example Im in uk and i done little experiment I posted video in the morning and I posted the same video after 5 pm. The 2 videos were identical - the same music, the same hashtags. The first video got 500 views and the second 15k views.
the second most important factor is video quality. But I do not mean video quality in terms of resolution, brightness and so on. I mean quality in terms of psychology. Does your video create curiosity to keep watching (generating watch time)? Is your video matching current trends? Does your video create opinion in people(commenting)? And so on.
The reason why I say quality is the second most important factor is because you can have the best video but if you post it at the wrong time algorithm will not gather enough data to decide whether to push the video in front of more people.
And then there are other less important factors like hashtags, music and so on.
and finally you need to be persistent and consistent. Keep making videos. Not all videos will work. Look at any successful account and you’ll see that not all videos are successful. There seems to be 80/20 ratio. 20% of videos you create will give you the 80% of total views. This sort of ratio also applies to what makes video successful.
What I suggest we do is set up discord Chanel where we could share ideas, results, critique each other videos on so on. Would anybody be interested in doing this?
