I wouldn't say that at all. BHW is first and foremost a community. Even so, we all have our different perspectives on what works best regarding SEO. Even two very successful individuals will usually have conflicting viewpoints. Not only is a competition like this fun, it will also be educational. This could be, more or less, both a competition and a community-driven case study of Blackhat methodology.

Also, service providers can get a lot of publicity from something like this.

In the end, there's a ton of reasons to do this that has nothing to do with the prize money. I definitely am interested in seeing this happen!

edit: Wow, just realized we all just necro'd a post from back in January. Looks like it's more popular now than it was then.

We need someone to step up as organiser. I would be willing to provide hosting space if we need a website for the comp - ie to list entrants, domain list etc...

Ranking is vanity.
Traffic is sanity.

I did not see if someone say it but you can make it a pay some $ to get into the contest and the winner take it all

Just a thought...

This would pretty fun thing to do. It would separate the men from the boys, SEO wise.
