So i was searching for a domain for my upcoming website, i try to find a good short .com domain but almost all are already register even .net , .info is not available. But .org extension is available in almost all domain I register two nice .org. Whats the reason people avoid .org ?

Generally people look at a ,org as a non-profit entity as owning the domain so many people leave it alone. I'm not of that thought process and own several; all in the business, finance and employment niches and have a couple that are very strong users.

They rank just like a .com/.net so do not let that myth get in the way of you making a .org make you money.

I am also thinking of using .org for my upcoming authority site :p

I use .org over .net :)

Not many webmaster buying org domain has lot to do with psychological aspect relating such domains to NGO's / social kinda profile. But no harm in taking those as they maintain "Trust" tag in mind of visitors.

I don't know why people don't use it, but it's nearly as good as .com/.net

That might be cause psychological dimension.

^^^ this is what your 99% visitors will think.

but , they also create a trust in people while visiting your site.

I could not agree more!
Makes you BH operation seem so legit and trustworthy. They have no idea their email address is being added to some list, as buying customers. :-)

there are really big sites using .org
for example sharecash

So true.

There are also plenty of expired .org domains that are great for local seo ;)

But that's *hush* *hush* ;)

Interesting! Anyways, great that the OP started this thread. It'll make lots of us think next time before
choosing 'something243254235something' etc as the site name just because we're registering a .com.

People do use .org but usually after they have tried getting the .com .net etc first.

Still, in my experience .com ranks better in Google.
I have ranked few .org domains on Ist page of Google easily like .com rank. So there is no problem like .com rank better blah blah.

Down to the "Myth" that .org won't rank as good, or that people won't visit the site because it doesn't sound right but in this day and age I think .org is a lot more acceptable to all the internet browsing sheep. Hahaha
