Why my virtual assistance acting like that?

We agreed on listing 100 items on 4 different platforms, and she gets a monthly payment of $150 every month automatically since January.
But she only does half of the work. In the beginning, everything was okay. I also received some bad reviews because of a false listing. Invested about a full-time month in just showing her.

Until today, she had a funeral, a depression, a break-up, etc now for 2 weeks her mother is in a hospital or whatever. She only uploaded 30 items in March.
After that, she was not able to work. Then she just finished the other 48 items, since the rest was sold.

In April, she asked me for work, and since i could not pay right away, and she needed money asap, (because she gets paid automatically on PayPal at the end of the month) she threatened me that she will quit working.

Since She got paid and nothing finished yet, should I wait again until the end of the month? And how can I avoid this kind of people?

You don't have to avoid, you only need to test and keep good VAs.
Now split 100 items into 25 items for each VA. It means you hire 4 VAs and pay $40/month.
Then you keep 1 or 2 good VAs for long term.
 
I think you should communicate with her and show your reservations. You can also increase the payment a bit and see if things work out for you. If the matter is not sorted out, there is always another option available to hire someone else.
 
Well, if she's having personal issues, that's the reason right there. Probably she isn't well enough to do her job, but that's not your problem either, so first talk to her about it and if she doesn't change her behavior find someone else.

Seems like she is getting burned out. But obviously that’s not your fault. She agreed to do her job for the money, so it is on her.

Perhaps move on.

Whats wrong with $150? Listing 100 items on 4 different platforms can only be a part time job. If it takes under 40 hours, it is ok pay. Depending on country.
 
For how many months you paid her ? you could've invest that in hiring a freelancer here to make a simple bot for you.

It's literally 0,375 cents per item, you cannot expect having a worker with full mental health doing this kind of stuff for a living. This kind of jobs normally are temporary and don't prove estability enough and some people have mental breakdowns conjuring this with irl stuff, that's why I mention the 150$. Only a point of view.

A worker making $150 for under a weeks job steady since January in India would think it is an ok extra job.
 
It sounds like she’s lying to half ass the work . I used be like her and it would be excuse after excuse .

I understand you’re having personal problems but we have been dealing with this for a while now . Please find a way to improve your speed and listing quality or I’ll have to find someone else . Nothing personal just don’t have time to wait any longer

If I lived there and did not have a job/income I would happily take that money for under a weeks time of job, it is more than nothing. You can not be picky if you do not have anything else.
