I've been thinking lately of the reason why I'm not making as much money as I'd like and I came to a conclusion

    I like to procrastinate.

How I Plan To Solve It?

Do at least one thing a day

    ______________________

I made the post short because I really want you to think abotu what I just said. Ask yourself if you procrastinate alot...if you are lazy...and if you don't like to work

Then do at least 1 thing a day. Not alot. Just plan ahead for one thing.

I hope this helps you. It's not too motivational but just think about it.

Another reason is "paralysis by analysis."

I also find noobs get so caught up in mythical nonsense these days that they never take any action.

No follow, Do follow.. Just build some damm links already!

    Cheers

I like to make reasons why I can't/won't do something. I think this is a subset of procrastination lol.

Procrastination is the main cause of why most IM'ers fail.

So long as there is never any reason as to why you shouldn't procrastinate, chances are you always will.

For example, at university if you procrastinate on an assignment then you'll most likely fail, therefore you don't so you wont fail.

I agree this is a large part of it, (as someone who still somewhat has it) - but looking at it from a newbie perspective; this world is so massive and theres so many methods to try, most of them being risky in the sense of losing your adsense account or maybe even get in trouble with the law; its unsettling to think about.

Next is the investment side; without even a slight investment of at least a domain and hosting, its hard to get off the ground. Investing even more for a joint-venture or such and having it not work out can be demoralizing and lead to a bitter taste in attempting again.

The next barrier is when you first start and your bankroll is low (with no guarentee to be earning even $500 a month for at least the first 6 months) most of us newbies have to work normal jobs to sustain ourselves during the time beginning, which leads to procrastination due to over-working. For my example; I have been researching IM for 2 years now, but I only recently became unemployed and had the time to begin a serious effort of putting in more than 5 hours a week. Its hard to get started when you still work elsewhere.

I understand why people fail (not so much fail, as in just don't put in the effort to see any rewards) as it is quite daunting at first.

Gotta just start it and keep at it.

    mostly because of unreal expectations.
when u read that stuff it makes it sound so easy and when u do, u find out the truth and get demotivated when u see how work and competition there is.
With almost any method u can earn money if u just play it on number games. Making 1$ a day with auto blog is to little? try building 1000 of them...
If u don't have some innovative idea then just work boring stuff until u get one

I think that making money is easy and that any method as long as you get traffic to it will make money. It's just that people might be lazy and might overthink it.

    That is my problem too.

This is how I handle it:

    1. Wake up in the morning
    2. Start laptop
    3. Start working right away

This way I can not ask my self if I want to work. If I do this. The rest of the day goes fine. If I read my email first I get nothing done.

    Cheers

If you have traffic, you always have revenue. Now, people do not know how to get traffic, and me first (organic).
98% of my traffic is made by me. 2% is organic. Those 2% bring me about $600/month. If I could get 100% organic with the same number, I'll be rich by now...

I would definitely hand on my heart say that the number 1. reason is always not having any direction or knowing how to go about making the money.. I think that is what leads to procrastinating.. but hey that's just me.. I am a noob and extremely confused.. if someone nudged me even the most basic technique I'd be working 20 hours PLUS loool.. but yeah I've been reading through many threads but it's still not clicking with my brain lol.. anyways ya.. I believe the biggest reason is not knowing/lack of direction. :p

Simple fact is, some people have it and some people don't. If everyone was motivated, intelligent, and had great business sense, then there would be no one to cook burgers at McDonalds, or mop the floors at Walmart.

Most people never earn a dime online because they are stuck on reading about making money online instead of actually doing it and taking action.

The number 1 and 2 reasons are closely related.

    1. Ease of reading ABOUT making money. (LAZINESS; lack of focused motivation)
    2. Information overload ("I could do THIS... NO THIS!... WHAT ABOUT THAT?!?"

    3. Technical computing task complexities (Even basic wordpress setup can be difficult for someone who's primarily just held low-skill jobs while playing sports and racing cars in their spare time. And that is a drop in the bucket compared to raw html coding or many of the effective black hat techniques)

    4. The tediousness of various tasks. (Writing article after article, blog comment after blog comment, yahoo answer after yahoo answer, autoresponder e-mails, rewriting PLR, or attempting to write free reports or e-books on inane subjects that happen to have monetization potential, etc. can all be boring as fawk. This is all WORK, for a lot of people. LAZY and UNMOTIVATED individuals don't work with enough focus for long enough periods of time to realize their desired results (which really touches on how much they ACTUALLY DESIRE those results).

    5. Dynamic complexity of the entire animal (Adsense used to pay A LOT MORE than it does now. People used to make a killing direct linking through Google Adwords to CPA offers. No longer allowed. Even Bing ads RECENTLY stopped allowing direct linking to e-mail/zip submit offers. Bum article marketing used to be much more profitable prior to the Panda algorithm changes. SEO assumptions have to be re-evaluated. CPA networks invoke new traffic restrictions everytime you turn around. Competition driving CPC's up. Effective methods get saturated, then another method is devised only to be saturated soon afterwards).

Two significant elements related to success in this game are INDIVIDUAL DRIVE and LUCK. Only one of those do we have any direct control over. To the extent that it comes down to our individual sphere of control, we can be determined to succeed by being determined to be focused, resilient and flexible.

We need to be focused on learning what we need to learn with the ability to apply what we learned within different contexts and under different conditions. We need to stay focused on a method that we have reason to believe can bring some success -- even when it involves tedious tasks. We need to remain focused on a method that we have reason to believe could lead to success for long enough to test, tweak, twist, and explore it from different angles before deciding it's not worthwhile.

We need to be resilient when we don't immediately see the results we'd hoped for from an investment of our time, efforts and money.

And we need resilience and flexibility to adapt in response to game rule changes that are out of our control such as laws (taxes related to Amazon), restrictions (no more direct linking or various traffic sources allowed), or previously effective methods/niches becoming overly competitive.
