Hello Friends,

So, Few days ago i added my website link in my profile and according to forum membership levels I am allowed to do that :
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/updated-bhw-member-levels.889577/

But within a few minutes one mod @BassTrackerBoats removed my link and send me a message that its not allowed as my website selling services and I can't add my website link if I am not a upgraded member. I sent my apologies to the mod ASAP and after that I check the membership levels page and i saw its allowed to add my link in my profile but i didn't react to that. I then today go to some threads and found that max members are using their links in their profile (even newbies) and they are promoting their offers, FB Page, Services, Adsense Blogs here. In short they are all promoting their websites and making profit in a way or other. Then why I am not allowed to post my link in my profile? Have a look at the profiles below :

Now I would like to request the mods to provide me any reason why I am not allowed to post my links in my profile? If this accounts can do then why not me?

Now, Come to the second part. Yesterday I post my cyber monday deal on the official BHW black friday and cyber monday deal started by Mod @meathead1234 and before posting my offer I send a PM to @meathead1234 for asking permission that If I am allowed to post my own Cyber Monday deal on this thread or not as many members are posting threads from outside and those are not here in marketplace and the mod says its fine to post so i posted my deal and after few minutes my post was removed by @WilhelmScream saying that I am not allowed to post deals as I am not upgraded member and I have not any sales thread in marketplace. So, I promptly replied her saying that I already asked regarding this with one mod and he said its ok to post and then she said to provide her the conversation details and i sent her and after that she didn't replied :) at all. Please have a look at the conversation between me and the thread starter mod:

So, Basically what I am asking is why the mods are so confused? I think that all mods should be on one page regarding forum rules and do not just impose rules on only few members instead they should apply the rules on all members. :)

Now I know some mods will say that they have a lot of other jobs to do and they didn't have so much time to go and check every account or so.

To answer to this I would say with very respect that they should think this situation before applying as a mod on this forum as this the responsibility of the mod to take care of such things. So, If they think that they are not able to tackle it then they should provide this opportunity to other experienced member of this forum to come forward and take the charge and handle the situation and make the forum a great place for all :)

The Mods aren't confused it's you that should know better.

In the deals thread you were blatanly promoting your own service, which is against the rules.
There's no reason why you haven't upgraded to JrVIp is there? At least by doing that you can advertise your service in a nice colourful banner and go on and open a Marketplace thread to sell your service.

There are hundreds of yellow members who have links as their homepage, but they didn't try to spam the deals thread.

From what I understand, you can have an outgoing link in your profile as long as you're not selling anything on your website.
Upgrade your membership if you want to advertise your product/service via links in signature/profile.

Also, mods are human too. Sometimes things slip by them. That is why we have the 'report' button below each post. If you see something that you're sure is against the rules, report it to the mods and they'll take care of it.

What makes it more blatant is when people join up and have their username same as their service they're selling.
They then add their homepage to their profile and some even go as far as to design their own branded avatar too.

Did you have checked the screenshots i have added in my thread some of them have links to their websites who are selling services just like me. Secondly, Did you have checked the screenshot of the conversation between me and the other mod of the deals thread I have clearly asked him that "Can i add my deals link on your thread ? I have also mentioned in that conversation that i haven't any sales thread here on BHW " after that he provide me permission for this and only after this i have added my link on the deals thread. I think you guys to should check all the screenshots before just replying here.

You can post a link, as long as you're not selling a product or providing a service:

To advertise your services on blackhatworld, you can submit a thread to our marketplace as long as you have an active Jr VIP or Marketplace Seller subscription. You can find more information on submitting a marketplace thread here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-black-hat-world-marketplace-rules.1295700/

If you do not meet the requirements for Jr VIP and wish to advertise in your signature, you can buy Premium Membership and advertise in your signature. You are allowed to have either a linkable banner in your signature (must be under 728x90px with no flashing colours or call-to-actions) OR you can have up to 3 text links. Signatures that break these rules will be deleted without notice and you may receive a warning.

Forum Rules:

3. PROHIBITED CONTENT AND ACTIVITIES.

3.6 Advertising to, or solicitation of, any member to buy or sell any products or services through the unauthorized or impermissible use of the Site such as PM solicitation. (Note: If you have something you want to sell on this forum, post it in the For Sale section).

Now I know some mods will say that they have a lot of other jobs to do and they didn't have so much time to go and check every account or so.

It's exactly this. There are thousands of accounts on here and the mods cannot check every single account. If I see someone with a home page link to a product/service who is not a paid up member and is blatantly trying to promote it on here, then I report them.

Meathead ( Thomas ) flies more miles in a year than most do in a lifetime, he runs a hugely successful business and speaks at conferences across the globe.
He runs this thread each year to help people out who are looking for deals, not to help people selling their services ( outside the marketplace), so I'd suggest on this he might have got things slightly wrong.

Instead of being a tight ass, buy yourself an upgrade and get a banner on your profile.

I'm amazed to see the level of entitlement. The forum, the mods, the admins don't owe you shit and you sure as hell don't pay them to 'serve' you. BHW is what it is. Being a member here is pretty much a "take it or leave it" deal.

Well, TheHinduForum looks to be a web forum so I'm not quite sure why you think they're selling something. As for the rest, just report them.

As I mentioned above, it's not possible for mods to constantly monitor thousands of accounts to make sure they all comply 24/7 with the forum rules. Mods do actively remove homepage/profile links to products or services that they sell when they find them. You got caught, learn from it and move on.

Well thank you for your honest answer here :) Exactly I didn't have any problem whereas my link got removed from my profile and for this i promptly send an apology message to the mod if its agianst the rule but when i saw that there are several other old accounts having links to their website in their profile that really stuck me. Frankly speaking I love when some mod warns me as it shows that the mods are very active but on the other hand it hurts that only some accounts get warnings while others are just doing the same thing without any restrictions. Also, FYI one of the website on that list is selling SEO services :)

You know, this thread is a great example of why I loathe issuing infractions. You issue one guy an infraction, or in this case verbally warn him, and all of the sudden he's on a crusade to find everyone who's violating the same rule as him.

Then again, they do my job for me, so I can't complain too much.
But within a few minutes one mod @BassTrackerBoats removed my link and send me a message that its not allowed as my website selling services and I can't add my website link if I am not a upgraded member. I'm sure you realise by now that using your home page URL to circumvent rule 12 in the TOS isn't allowed.
Now I would like to request the mods to provide me any reason why I am not allowed to post my links in my profile? If this accounts can do then why not me?
We can't be expected to be everywhere on the forum, so if you come across members violating the same rule you did, report them. I've already begun removing the home page URLs for the members in your sloppy screenshots.

We normally don't allow members to self-promote, so I don't know why he said. However, he's been moderating the forum longer than I have, so I'll let him address that himself.

There are currently 876,875 members on this forum, with new members joining frequently. Investigating each account for suspicious activity just once can take anywhere between a minute to several hours. To top that off, there are constantly members asking for support and submitting threads which require approval. Don't forget that we also need to spent time addressing threads such as this one.

The moderators you mentioned in your post do more a lot more on this forum than you realise, and many of them moderate the forum on a volunteer basis.

I'm waiting for next year when we get everyone self promoting their on sites with a code for a discount, my Shopify dropshipping site that sells fake turds, I could do an extra 1% off code maybe? :D

I'm highly interested in unicorn turds

always been part of the system here, home url for non payed members can only
be a url that doesnt promote a service/product unless your a payed member.
if u want a home url that does promote a payed service - upgrade your account
97$ a year , isnt bhw worth it, or is it only good when its free?

there will be a boat load of accounts like yours doing the same thing , and when i
see them, i report them, why should u get for free what we sellers have to pay for,
only fair if u wanna make money with a product, so should bhw for you adverting
it here.

no i didnt report you - ide say if i had. put simple you gotta pay if u wanna play
fair exchange is no robbery

mornin all.

I love it when members are aware enough of people breaking the rules to bring them up to mods, but then only ever bother to when they want to argue an infraction they've been given.

Anyway, guess I'll address the points here against me. Your post was reported as we generally don't allow non-Jr. VIP members to promote their services that are off-forum. I was unaware that you had been given permission, so I asked for you to link me so that I could verify this.
i sent her and after that she didn't replied :) at all.
You realise people on the internet can live on different time zones to you, right?
It's rare, but I do sometimes go to sleep. :)

In the future, you can just PM me again for a follow up. I tend to get a lot of PMs, so sometimes messages can get buried.

@Zwielicht has already explained the issue with the other point you brought up very well, so I don't think I need to add anything else in regards to that.
