Why is Reddit so Negative?

It got horrible since a few years ago. (Social networks in general are becoming toxic.)

Even in the small communities there's so much negativity. I don't know why, I think the bots and brigades turned away the honest and good users.

I recall joining a small community of ham radio and electronics. First thing I dared to ask I got told how stupid I was and that I should die and burn forever LOL. That's how bad it is.

Now I just use reddit to spam. I don't even read the replies LOL. I get like 7k visitors from one good homerun, that'd cost me $$$$ in ads.

It's a hive mind. Do you know how many times I've been downvoted into oblivion trying to give SEO advice? The idiots there take whatever Neil Patel say as gospel, and God help anyone that disagrees with him.
 
The internet (and computers in general) make it much easier to say things one would never say to another person's face. Lots of trolls and people who just enjoy being negative.
 
Depends on the subreddit really, the main ones are full of trolls/negativity but not all subreddits are like that.
 
You should have seen reddit when crypto airdrops where trendy!
 
Funny subreddits (aww, memes, animaltextgifs) are absolutely great and so are small, niche ones related to science, biology, etc.

Larger, controversial ones can be an absolute nightmare and make you disgusted and lose hope in humanity (AmITheAsshole is the worst, just 10 minutes of browsing it can make my blood boil).
 
It depends, for reddit it's hard to understand and it's a good community website

I guess it could be related to the fact that Reddit users are in majority young Americans and the social justice warriors and political correctness that is present there creates the hive mind attitude.. and anything that is not politically correct gets shit on. Ironically it actually shows how negative and big of a bullies these "social justice warriors" actually are themselves.
 
It really depends on which subreddits. I used to post a lot in r/nba but now i more of a lurker
 
You gotta know how and where to work Reddit, especially when it comes to making $$.

I've had some good luck dropping links to Amazon affiliate things, but you have to be super low-key about it. Like if a thread is talking about blankets, I'd drop a link about a security blanket and wrap a story around it. "My son has a security blanket we got him from Amazon (link) that he refuses to leave the house without. The only downside is that sucker is really heavy, and a pain in the ass to wash in a regular washer"
 
They are the most tech-savvy of the "social medias" if you'd call it that. They can smell a mile off if you're just there to promote your shit and there is a zero tolerance approach to dealing with it. You really need to play the game if you want to get decent traffic from there: Actively contribute and become part of the community for a while before you even think about dropping links and even then a lot of subs have a blanket ban on self-promotion of any kind.
 
Noticed that too. I get good laughs with some posts but overall it's full of snobs.
 
Idk reddit is odd, but there is a lot of good stuff there. You can look for negativity (and easily find plenty), but it’s not as bad as many people here have described (in my opinion of course)
