Okay. So I redesigned my site and my sales went straight down the tubel. It's either because of the lost traffic (Panda killed me) or the design. Word through the grapevine is that my site appears 'spammy' ... but why?

Is it the colors?
Is it the adsense ads?
Is it the 3-column layout?
Is it the font?

What is it?

I suck at design, so any constructive, useful and applicable tips would be greatly appreciated.

SmokeWithoutFear .. I know you don't accept URLs. I'm not trying to advertisement my piece-of-crapola site. I just want genuine help.

Also... my landing page used to be an honest 'letter' basically explaining how I was a smoker and finally quit with e-cigarettes. After reading a book about 'web marketing,' I rewrote it with the current stuff. Perhaps I should revert to the original letter!??

THANKS MUCH!!

It doesn't look as professional as it could, maybe you could start by grabbing a new template for it. Is it running on WordPress (can't tell on my tablet) if so just grab a theme you like and throw it up, there are themes based around AdSense and its an easy way to get a whole new look.

You also need to make sure that the keywords you are going for will get you enough traffic to make some sales. And check your on page Seo :-)

Hope that helped

Man do you know in how hard niche you are? :)

Work hard on your backlinks, collect some money and pay someone to make a better design for you and expect first results after 6-12 months.. if your site is new one.

Did you try the oldformat?

your site does look spammy.

do you have a counter? to know what your traffic is or was?

Too much ads imo. I think the way you're overmonetizing the site makes people go away.

Hmmm. I really appreciate the tips. Yeah.. friggen web design. I'm Indian, and I swear Indians have no sense of design (or fashion, for that matter, LOL). I will look into removing all the ads. Thanks!!

* too many ads
* need better design

first line is like "this is not a spam site" ... think this needs to go.

yah, remove "this is not a spam site"

put a new theme on, spread out your ads. it looks mfa right now.

is your income from sales or adsense ? whichever it is, stick with just that, not both

then, get visitor stats and track your progress and ranking. statcounter is good and free

I agree with veheme you have ads all over the place and you start the article by saying this is not a spam site. I would focus on only one affiliate program per page, you have three vendors ads on the same page. If you want to compete in this very competitive market I would recommend a lot more original content. Also ad an email capture form and focus on getting their email and then sell to them using well written automated emails. I would also recommend starting a facebook fanpage for people trying to quit smoking and write a short pdf "10 things that will help you quit smoking you must know" to give away for anyone to dl. I'm sure you can find some floating around that are plr. Start a g+ page and also get a twitter account and offer daily stop smoking tips. This is a hard niche so like the previous poster said you need to be patient. I send about about 50 click legit clicks per month to green smoke and have not converted one sale in three months. Good luck and keep working

That you call a redesign, it looks to me 2000's site.

Design isn't that big of a deal.. I used to have an ugly as site that made $50/day for a year

Depends of the site, if you sell something it does matter.

true, if you're selling something and want the reader to trust you and buy you need something good. if on the other hand you concentrate on adsense many times uglier sites convert better as visitors would click anything to get the hell off your site :)

That is so not true. lol. So many of us design websites :D

Also can't see a link - was it removed?

GREAT ADVICE! Wow. This forum is awesome! Takes days for me to get any advice from other forums, lol!

F**king brilliant USDAChoice! I never thought of that! I avoided social media because I didn't see how I could attract followers, but that quit smoking thing is a great idea!

It depends on the deal but I would guess that a better design for that site would definitely up the earnings per day.

You are welcome vsaxena 8)) Make sure you make the fanpage for "website" and not biz so FB does not claim it from you when you get lots of followers. Remember to get people to actually like the page you will need a clever name that people want to like. Here are some ideas that might work.
