Why is Google bard so far behind ChatGPT?

No one was expecting chatgpt to be so good as it is, google will cath up but will take some time to get where gpt is, AI pop up out of no where and now is every where, let's give them some time and let's see what they will do in the future.

Is chatgpt capable of eliminating them?

Can't say "eliminate" but they could give them a run for the money

Should be mentioned tho, if chatgpt prevails, SEO is definitely dead. webmasters get zero credit or clicks for gpt answers

Not even close. ChatGPT doesn't have the budget. Not even with Microsoft as a backup.

Not so sure about that. Microsoft has enough cash to wage ware on google for years if necessary

Also, Windows is still the most used OS, they would leverage that

I read somewhere that Chat-GPT is going to have their own web browser & their own search engine.

They should do it fast because they already have loyal fanbase of millions of users.

Google Bard may feel behind ChatGPT because it was launched later and is still developing its language model capabilities. While Bard benefits from Google's vast search data, ChatGPT has had a head start in refining conversational skills and integrating advanced AI techniques from OpenAI's research. As both models improve, their differences may continue to narrow.

Google launched bard to give competition to chatgpt but it completely failed. There is no comparison between the two if we see the response. Why did bard fail so badly? Did they fail to understand needs of usee even after having so much data of user behaviour?
Because chatgpt has been developed for years. Google didn't have enough time to prepare a good solution to chatgpt.

Google has a big edge because of its extensive infrastructure and dominance in search.

But ChatGPT's creative use of AI and its capacity to offer thorough, straightforward responses present a significant obstacle.

Perhaps, both will probably be used in the future, with ChatGPT blending in smoothly with other apps and Google using AI to improve its search powers.

ChatGPT is the man with a lot of duties, and Bard is a baby girl.

I think the main issue is that Bard feels rushed and lacks the refinement of ChatGPT. OpenAI focused heavily on user experience and fine-tuning, while Google seems to have underestimated the complexity of conversational AI. Having data doesn’t always translate into understanding how to use it effectively. Bard might catch up, but for now, ChatGPT has a clear edge.

Garbage in garbage out.
Google prides itself in gazillions of data but it's just shit. Data alone is not enough.
Imagine the realm of SEO where Google has fed it's algo and (AI god knows) with Quora and Reddit which can be garbage user generated content and opinions of dumboos.

Whereas OpenAI stacks take a more granular approach with how they utilize, feed, and train with their own billions of data, it's systematic and well categorized too.
