Why is everyone soooo into Amazon?

in my country amazon is converting better than other online shops which offer affiliate programs ....

@rinti, here's what the CS said...
  • A customer clicks your link.
  • They add to cart the product you promoted.
  • They also add 3 more products within 24hrs. These are called Qualifying products (basically EVERYTHING you add to cart within the 24hr timeframe).
  • Decides to place order later.
  • They now have 89 days cookie session WITH YOUR REFERRAL.
  • If they order it under 89 days period WITHOUT clicking somebody else's referral link, you get the commission for the Qualifying products.

So I apologize for the "you get all the goodies chunk everytime they purchase" phrase. That's what I have assumed all these time and I've seen many clients are doing this (when asked they told me, that's what bla-bla-bla is doing).

WHY?????

#1 VOLUME
someone already mentioned it OWNS the US online market right now. I think its actually more like over 50%. They have around 15% of the US population on PRIME, who almost elusively shop at amazon if the product is there.

For Affiliates
#2 Combine with 24hr replaceable cookie for BH people and its a gold mine. People don't always (often) buy the product they arrive at amazon from your link. They just buy something and you get commission. With 1/2 of the buyers that day buying under that url. . . no one can compete at this point

For Sellers
#3 Your product gets a massive audience to sell to that would otherwise never have found your product or site. You don't 'ONLY' sell on Amazon but you better pay attention because even if you aren't selling your product someone else is, and you better protect your brand.

For Dirt Merchants
#4 Scamazon is currently pro fraudster. Most people don't know this. You can take someones brand replicate it in another country (e.g - China), make a deal with Amazon as a vendor. Take someone else's label trademark, etc. and product and sell it to Amazon who then sells the product and shields you from being caught. Right now they really just don't give a sh*t. I think this will change over the next few years, and they will get sued hard, but we'll see.

" Amazon pays peanuts per sale, like less than a $1 per sale."

Err yeah, you keep high balling those types of products:D

They also pay zero on some items such as gift cards.

As for the keywords being difficult, NOT if you're buying off the right people.
I have someone who does me awesome keywords and a great price.

People trust Amazon, to the degree some just use the search on there for a product and don't even bother with search engines.

How come... the question was why Amazon is popular. Cause it’s doing it right - product, price, place, promotion .. you know.
nope. the question was why amazon affiliate sites popular among marketers, not why amazon is successful... you know.

I understand that Amazon Aff. has a higher CR and the 24hour cookie, but:
Let's say you build a face cream affiliate site, you rank it on the keywords "face cream" etc... and you get around 50,000 visitors per month.
If you had Amazon on it, you will make around $2,500 per month, paying $1 per sale on a $25 product with a 5% CR.
If you dropship the same product from Aliexpress, you would make $50,000 per month, with the same 5% CR and the same product cost.
Even if your CR is lower by HALF you would still make 10X more than from Amazon.

You didn't add the refund rate, headache from dropshipping, the time to manage all your shop

As an Amazon seller I can tell you why I am so into Amazon.

- Their customer reach is massive and makes it the best platform for start ups.
- Fairly easy to get started with FBA and makes it easy not dealing with packing orders and handling a lot of the customer experience.
- The best tool their is to use as a stepping stone to building your own brand off of Amazon. I think most people see Amazon as the end goal for their business when they should be using Amazon's resources as a tool.

I'm not totally sure about the merits with their affiliate program but thought I would share my insights as a seller. I have been able to go from $0 to $5,000/month in a year and my business is continually growing.

Hope this helps!

Once I did a 'call to action test' - it was something like this:

First option -> affiliate link like: 'For the best offers, check <item> link.'
Second option -> affiliate link like: 'For the best offers, check <item> Amazon affiliate link.'

Where <item> is Amazon's affiliate link.

No link cloaking or anything. I can't remember exact numbers, but 'second option' pages had some 2.5-3x better click through rate - as if word 'Amazon' was all that was required to 'push' the visitors to the Amazon ...

And regarding later conversion on Amazon - I didn't bothered about it ...

just my 2c ;)
