Why I stopped using Skype

I think skype is good, not waste time, because I can support my customers easily. They will trust you and they will buy products from you. With good customer service you will have lots of loyal customers.

I believe this depends heavily on your type of service/product.

4) Use project management software that has a client facing front and instruct clients to submit all change requests and bug reports through that interface only. You can keep all requests organized and they will be able to see what actions you took (or didn't take).

Got any recommendations for apps/software like this?

I charge people for my professional skype account time that we chat with voice. Instant messaging is vital in managing people's online businesses for them. I encourage my clientele to use phones and skype or text me (which ever is cheaper) as they actually do PAY for my support. It is factored into my costs, every thing I need to do for them is factored in with a 1.5x buffer (allows costs to go up if needed without raising prices). I suggest you do the same as that instant interaction has made me far more sales than simple informal methods.

Yes South African Internet sucks (i'm on a 2mb line so that's crap)
The Rand is doing bad (added this in cause buying online for me has stopped)

I always prefer email + skype. Sometime my emails land in spam folder that time skype is the option for client to communicate with me and i always do text chats (no one on one chat) to manage multiple clients at a time.

ActiveCollab is my current favorite, but it's not cheap. $500 for the self hosted version, but it does everything from project management to time tracking and invoicing and handling payments. Only big feature it's missing is creating tasks by email.

My main problem with the free open source tools is that they are ugly as sin and clients will avoid using it.

I purchase only after chatting at skype, as it helps me know that service is active or not. live support is must thing for any business now days to increase sales. Without live support services mostly crap and as if you ask me. Skype is good support.

I have noticed lately that there is more and more often a kind of miscommunication between my client and myself. It happens that one of us unintentionally oversees a message and then something doesn't get done in time. This is very annoying thing on Skype. It's easy to oversee a message.

1. Skype is a waste of time indeed.

2. Why do you keep using Skype, while the world actively switches to Whatsapp?

Emails all the way. Clean, good, easy, professional... what more can you ask for?

I am not agree with you, skype is a source of instant communication in all over the world, people familiar with interface and its easy to use. Almost every internet user have skype ID which is the most easy way to cotact a person anywhere in the world
according to my experience it saves our lot of time instead of wasting time

Skype is very useful in my opinion - to each their own, though.
