Why hide wordpress platform when google loves it ?

Hello,
I've seen many WP plugins claiming it can hide wordpress platform. So why hide it when Google already loves it and may have special settings for Wordpress CMS in their search engine ?

That kind of plugins is often used by PBN owners so that they don't leave too many footprints.
 
Well it also happens to be that spammers also love them. So it will depend on how you would like to manage your platform.
 
Some site owners do it so that their competitors wouldn't know, or at least have an idea of what sites he/she owns.

By compromised, do you mean hacked ? I've hardly seen any WP site being hacked, & the hacked ones are mostly due to poorly coded plugins.

Well, spammers dont bug me, I know how to stop 'em.

If the competitors know the website, its easy to find out that its a wordpress website by manually looking into it.
 
1.security - wordpress is a big target for hackers, so if you hide the fact you are running it, its safer for you.

2.minimising footprint - if you are running a PBN, maybe you want to use wordpress for all sites but dont want to advertise that fact - in case that amounts to a detectable footprint in your network.
 
one way or another wordpress website's are easily recognizable if you are a hardcore wordpress user and have some know-how.

i can sense wordpress website even if somebody used a nifty little plugin to hide it.
 
Depends what the purposes of such plugins are. As mentioned above, platforms are usually hidden for PBNs and the like.

If you would like to improve the security of a website the most effective way is to enable a SSL certificate. Also, keep in mind it's essential to keep your WordPress updated to the latest version. Changing the login and admin URL (/wp-login.php and /wp-admin) is important. So is limiting login attempts and backing up regularly your files.
 
Security is a red herring. If you are on shared hosting your Wordpress or other site is only as secure as the weakest one on the server. Once a hacker gets in to one site on the server all of them are trivial to hit and then it makes little difference to how much you hide the footprint via plugins because the hacker can see the files on the server.

Besides the design of Wordpress is retarded. A mixture of PHP and HTML is idiotic. A more sane design would be PHP which generates HTML.

However, WordPress is totally free and it keeps getting better and better although it's an open source project. We can't really complain.

Yeah, could be for the coders only, not for people like me. Using wordpress is the best shortcut to dive into Internet Marketing and earn some money.
 
I have a couple of sites with a "hide my wordpress" type of plugin (forget which one) installed and have yet to receive a brute force attempt on any of them whereas it is a regular occurrence at my other sites. Spyder Spanker also helps to some extent (if the bot is in the identified list).
 
What is it about WP that makes you think Goofle loves it? Something you read somewhere?

Well, WP can definitely be more SEO friendly than the other HTML websites, especially if you install SEO plugins.
