Why Facebook bought giphy

Yeah china is already a cashless society
Still can use cash, but its not common anymore. Literally everyone use Alipay or Wechatpay...and to be honest: These apps are actually really useful and they can save lots of time + you have an overview how you spend your time etc.

The only problem I see is: There are two big companies. Thats it. If they ban you, you'll have huge problems. You can't even make a new account easily. There is no alternative. So people really depend on it and thats a huge problem.

Lol, you think an Android phone is a poor man's phone, for your information, there are Android phones way better than than your so called IOS
Come on, you know nearly everyone with Android struggles financially. That's like driving a garbage truck because the seats are comfier than a sports car. Pass.

Facebook plans to integrate the massive GIF library into Instagram and other Facebook apps. acquired for $400M

It's gonna be integrated everywhere.

Anywhere a gif loads, FB will get a signal.

May the addition be faster and more convenient and it can be for me;)

Facebook paid a bundle of money for giphy, a stupid gif sharing site.

I see tons of criticism about it. Why would anyone pay so much money for gifs?

It's not about gifs. The gifs ain't worth shit.

It's about user tracking.

The gifs are everywhere. Phones, twitter, embedded in sites.

Facebook can now track every single person who ever logged into FB via those gifs. Everytime you see a gif, remember Facebook knows what you're doing online.

Google must be dying with envy. Nah, no they aren't. Google has Android and Chrome watching everyone 24x7. Can't beat that.
Money

Big brands are money makers and got all the powers so it is a tough game in this pandemic. Survival is what they are doing and oiling the higher expectation rather than royalty.

Yes and those people don't have 1500 posts because they have better things to do
Did you even read what i said loooool.

Facebook like google and the other giants is a media company selling data (yours) and traffic (what you see and click). The restrictions on these giants are slim when paying the fines is good roi against breaking laws however the reach of a pixel is only so far as it is triggered. Giphy is the perfect acquisition for any media/data company as it alows you to penetrate nearly all competitors platforms if you view all giphy media a a pixel (a very big one!) which is qite legitimately injected into all conversational media platforms.

I would guess that if you took a clean browser and then viewed a niche forum where someone had posted giphy media your retargetting/remarketting for that niche will begin that second.
