Facebook paid a bundle of money for giphy, a stupid gif sharing site.

I see tons of criticism about it. Why would anyone pay so much money for gifs?

It's not about gifs. The gifs ain't worth shit.

It's about user tracking.

The gifs are everywhere. Phones, twitter, embedded in sites.

Facebook can now track every single person who ever logged into FB via those gifs. Everytime you see a gif, remember Facebook knows what you're doing online.

Google must be dying with envy. Nah, no they aren't. Google has Android and Chrome watching everyone 24x7. Can't beat that.

GIFs are intergrated into whatsapp as much as stickers.

This. And they are funny as hell comparing to stickers. :D

You search a keyword and you literally get tons of GIFs right away from Giphy.

I wonder if Giphy is profitable or running at a loss and how they monetise? Just the data right?

I hope discord removed the gif integration now. Else im going to have to find an alternative.

It's really so annoying to know that we are being tracked 24/7 by Google and Facebook and not being able to do anything about it

There is plenty you can do about it if you care enough to put in the opsec effort

We all know only poor people have Androids.
This might be the most ignorant thing I've ever heard someone say.

Yeah, they are just buying data.
