I am running youtube ads. After it gets approved and goes live, there are a bunch of views. Within 20-30 minutes the number of views plunges to almost nothing. I have noticed this over the past day or so on multiple accounts. The plunge occurs before activating cloaking code or changing ad or anything like that. Any idea why this happens.

From the detail you provided, are you running out of budget?? There's a lot of levers you need to set in place to make sure your budget doesn't get wiped out quickly with YouTube advertising.

1.) What is your geographic targeting?
2.) What audiences are you layering on? I'd stay away from affinity audiences. Maybe use in-market. Look into custom intent audiences.
3.) Exclusions: When reviewing your placement reporting, you do have the option to select a placement that you no longer want to show on in the future by checking the box, selecting Edit, and 'Excluding it from an ad group or an entire campaign'.
4.) Topic Exclusions: Another option to consider would be to layer in topic targeting exclusions to exclude specific topics that you'd ideally not want to appear on. This allows for greater control. More info HERE
5.) Keyword Exclusions: block YouTube for Kids that's going to EAT UP your budget. keywords like abc, nursery, nursery rhymes, toys, video games like minecraft
