why does this forum insist on "pm me for info" when people ask a simple question

OK - Hands up, I'm a lurker and a reader so no hating because I'm not active or a valued member

I have a good read of this forum from time to time when I don't have much on and I love the trader threads, reasons why I signed up!!

BUT

Why do you guys have to reply to threads like "PM me and Ill help you" when all they ask is things about hosting or seo advice? They don't want your goods just answer the bloody question!!

Thats my rant of the day

Sorry but I like this forum and it really makes it look cheap and shady to the outside world when its full of "pm me"

A lot of times when someone says that it's because they don't want to share their keyword, domain, etc. publicly. If you had a keyword that was making you $5,000 per month, would you want to give that out on a public forum where someone could see that and then be your competitor which causes you to make less? 9/10 times this is the case with people saying PM me for whatever.

if it makes no sense that they'd be asking for PMs, then usually they're trying to circumvent the forum rules in some way.

Below each post is: Thanks, Blog this Post, Add Reputation and Report Post. When you see something that looks suspicious or is breaking the rules, press Report Post and the mods/admins look into it.

Totally agree when it comes to BST threads, people ask questions like "will you take gambling sites" and either the response is "PM me" or "PM sent." A one word answer would help all the people who have the same question...

I mean posts in the SEO areas as well though. Someone asks "what are the best types of links" (bad example) and its PM me

On Topic: I think people reply with PM Me not so much to sell directly as to post an impromptu BST wherever they go. The "PM Me" isn't for the OP, it's for others who might stumble across the thread. Even worse are the posts who respond with "PM sent" to those posts requesting a PM, completely ignoring the original intent of the thread. Poor OP.
