Why does a person develop ego when they receive a higher position or designation?

Hi! Like the title says.
I believe that we are all human beings and should be friendly to everyone. I believe that what we do to others will come back to us in similar ways.

So my question is, why does a person develop an attitude and tries to assert their power when they are in a position to help others? Instead of being supportive, they make others feel inferior to them.

I am feeling sad about what has been happening to me on BHW for the past 2-3 days. :(

That is what happens when a person is very insecure in his role among others. Sad really.

What happened to you here?

You barely have 100 posts, and to be frank I never seen you in any boastful discussions (if you imply about yourself, sorry if you didn't mean that).

But in general , this is a human nature, of course it is a bad thing, but this is how human ego works. We have to take steps to correct it.

One of the problems is when a young, poor ass person gets promoted quickly.

Sometimes it's because of incompetence, sometimes it's because of dunning kruger, sometimes it's because of lack of understanding, sometimes they just got something they shouldn't get.

PS: I still haven't fixed the damage I caused when I earned my first fat stacks.
 
I was full of ego before I took my first executive position. I think this contributed a lot to my desire to want an executive position in the first place.
Getting rid of my ego a few years later allowed my to open my mind to new ideas and strategies, and to learn from smarter people. This allowed me to start my own business and enjoy my days instead of being a douche.

I still have ego, but I'm actively trying to get rid of it.
 
Giving someone power just reveals their true character which is as much true on this forum as well as in real life.

You mean arrogance or you mean self-concept? Ego is abused term these days.

Well, if you get rid of yourself, that means you don't exist anymore, that means you're dead.

So why would anyone get rid of themselves? That's sick.
 
Change you profile pic to Don Corleone, Tony Montana or something to start getting respect.

I had around 20-30 posts deleted yesterday because it was thought that I was trying to increase my post count, which I never intended to do. For the past 2 days, I've been receiving warnings for things I never do intentionally. When I ask the moderators for the reason, all I get in response is "Create a ticket."

One of the mods didn't even bother to reply. I think that if mods behave like this, new members won't feel encouraged to contribute.

Took steps but were not successful. No second chance to correct posts; breach of any rule will result in direct deletion of thread and a warning will be added. I understand that there may be a heavy workload, but we are human beings after all.

We should try to help if someone asks.

I may be banned for writing this but, Sorry to say, but the behavior of 2 mods I see here is very bossy ( i personally felt it ).

You're exaggerating the pain you've experienced and that's pushing you forward in "blame game". I mean, that's something everyone will experience in their life, but sooner you stop, better for you and your wallet.

Edit: who is the one with an ego now we might ask? :rolleyes:

If you broke a rule you fckd up, not the Mod. Read the rules and understand them everytime before bedtime for 30 days forward and you will get it. Blaming others for your own fckups intentional or not is never a good idea.

Heck, even I got my fair share of warnings even if I never had an intent to get one. You need to learn the system as in society to navigate the threads and posts.

Please read again. I am not blaming anyone. I am saying that if we are wrong at any point and someone has the power to correct it and help us understand, things will be better. This way, we get encouragement to contribute. But if we are wrong and the other person behaves like a boss, not just me but everyone feels bad. That's why I created this post. It's okay, only those who have been in this situation will understand.

Personally I feel there is a direct correlation between how ‘unearned’ a gain in position is and how arrogant some one becomes. The weasels that constantly look for shortcuts in life are the ones that are constantly on edge about it such things.

I could give examples of this that would have people pulling there hair out about the traversty off it all. mean real golden spoon stuff and they still managed to f things up for the egos sake in some cases.

On the other hand, people that graft, do any job or project, even if it kicks their ass and can say ‘I gave it my best shot’ tend to take any failure or criticism on the chin at the worst of times, or as a learning experience at best.
