Why do people ask to comment on their post?

Okay,

I am seeing this for a long time and never got the hang of it.

Why do people ask others to comment the same word for their post?

For example, A pic of a disaster and ask others to comment "Amen" to pray for them, and so on.

Hope you got what I am trying to say?

I mean what benefit do they get by making people comment the same word? And, hasn't FB patched that, if it's a method? Since I am seeing people doing that for several years.

I know it seems a noobish question, but I searched and maybe I don't know what term to use to search for this thing.

Engagement for the algorithm in short (could be keyword targeted)

I’ve seen quite a lot of ‘gurus’ say comment “make money online” for a giveaway (another method) etc.

basically that’s enough to make sense
On IG it helps a lot with ranking on posts/hashtags etc. basically your profile will pop out more

Hm, but how? Those words are like "How", "Yes", "Amen", "Me", etc.
I assume any algorithm will ignore such words.

Good question
I wasn’t really digging into this but now thinking about it it might be another reason or something else I’m not familiar with

looking at the examples you have provided it simply looks like a call to engagement that will convert better

these all are simple/short/one worded comments and it looks like they all make sense since they’re related to the post

+ they give an ‘emotional/ego’ vibe which people would “buy” themselves into
and who doesn’t want a reason for publicity right?

and yeah I forgot to mention once again
I might be wrong about this but it makes some basic sense at least and this way would sure will boost them in the algorithm since they get both impressions and comments (possibly likes as well in the process) and comments are the least favorable way of interaction for the lurkers as I know

I think that this is just to get more views.

Okay. Let's keep engagement in mind. But, I am trying to find out if it helps them grow the poster's group or page in some or the other way, without red facing FB?

More views for what? I am talking in general and I think views are counted only for videos. Correct me if I am wrong.

It's probably something related to the fact they can contact or add as friends all the people who comment, without triggering fb antispam.

Yeah, maybe. That's what struck my mind. Is there any bot or something that can direct message all those who comment for a post? Any idea, anyone?

So many rules. Are they really seriously concerned about these things? Anyone, any insight, please.

The reason its done in groups is that the more comments you get on a post the more people in the group will see it on their walls. Without traction a post will only get seen by people browsing the group. Over about 10 comments it starts getting shown out of the group. Then it gets more comments and on it goes after that.

Engagement obviously so others can notice it and then they can share their crap

More exposure, either directly (via people in connection with the engaging users) or indirectly (via algo). Plus these signals boost credibility. Probably it's not meant to be more than this. Engagement from real accounts is always good even if it's not too meaningful. This is true for any social media site. Now translate this to FB, because i'm not into it.

Not true. Even a dot is an engagement and will trigger the algo at some stage.

When scrolling is considered to be engagement, why saying yes can't be?

I doubt it's got anything to do with the words themselves but rather just getting people to comment.

Engagement for the algorithm

The equation is simple. More the comments and likes on the post, Facebook (or IG) algorithm thinks that it is worth showing it to others. When others see it, they are also prompted to type <keyword>. So, again, the algorithm feels that yes this is again show-worthy to other people. The cycle is continuous. Coming to the part where they ask you to type a certain word like AMEN, GOD BLESS, etc. Words like these are sensitive and hard to ignore psychologically, so people do it without giving a second thought.

Another common method is asking for commenting with a specific keyword wich triggers a Messenger automation.
I did that a lot with MobileMonkey, they call this feature Comment Guard
