Why do I keep getting restricted by Instagram?

This has happened twice in a week now.

Instagram gives me a restriction on my account status from sending messages for a month. I request a review and the restriction immediately gets lifted with Instagram saying “our technology made a mistake”.

My profile is very old.

So I only use one account, home WiFi and 5g, no automation or proxies, manual follow unfollow.

My actions include around 25 follows per day, comment on 12-15 of them, 19-20 unfollows, DMing only those people who follow back or reply to my comments.

DMs are varied not same. Only 1 DM at a time and no links.

How many comments, follows and likes is safe to do at once?

Can watching and liking someone’s story along with follow and comment put me at more risk?

There are no official figures from Instagram. However, performing dozens of follows, unfollows, and comments every day can easily be flagged as bot-like behavior. You should drastically reduce this frequency and space out your actions.

I know you said that the account is old, but if you just started working it you probably still need the warmup process. I ve faced many restrictions without warming up the accounts. While with warmup, total different outcome

If Instagram continues to roll back the ban, chances are you’re just crossing over their automated spam detectors rather than having an actual problem. I would recommend slowing down and spacing out your activity rather than engaging in a bunch of activities in one sitting, because it’s normally your behavior that causes flags.

Instagram’s AI has been extremely aggressive lately, and even old accounts are getting flagged by mistake. Since your manual actions are already low, the issue is likely the speed or the sequence of your actions. Doing a follow, comment, and DM all within a short window triggers the spam filter.
Here are a few tips to stay safe:
  1. Space things out: Don't do all 25 follows or comments in one sitting. Spread them throughout the day.
  2. Hourly limits: Keep it under 5-7 follows/unfollows and 3-5 comments per hour.
  3. Vary your routine: Avoid doing the exact same sequence (like always watching a story, then liking, then commenting). Mix it up so it looks completely natural.
  4. Take a break: Since you got hit twice, stop all outbound actions (no follows/DMs) for 48 hours to let your account trust score reset."

It sounds like a false flag, especially if the review is approved right away. I'd just slow down a bit and spread your actions out. I don't think viewing or liking Stories by itself is the problem.

I think your account activity is much higher than that of a typical user. That's probably why Instagram considers it unusual behavior and has started limiting your account.

Your daily numbers are actually pretty low so its definitely a velocity or sequence issue. If you do those 25 follows and comments in one or two quick sessions, the algo is going to flag the rapid pattern. @Alca77 is right about the sequence... doing a story view, like, comment, and follow on the same profile within a minute is a massive footprint. Try browsing like a regular lurker for a bit, watch some random reels without doing any actions, and space things out. The instant lift on review just means your device and IP trust is high, but your session behavior is tripping the automated spam filter.

As Instagram lifts this restriction after their review, it seems to be a false positive. However in this case I would still recommend following a gradual approach for likking, commenting, and messaging as well as making new followers. In this way there is no exact safe number, but a more organic behavior definitely decreases riskks of being detected.

No, This doesnt put you at risk at all.

It seems like their AI System is making a mistake, They shouldnt be restricting you based on the number of actions you are doing.

Does this schedule work?

I won’t watch or like story, earlier while commenting I used to copy comment from ChatGPT now I’ll manually type.

3pm - 2 comments and 2 follows

3:30pm - 1 comment and follow and 1 like and follow

5pm - 2 comments and follow

5:30pm - 1 comment and follow and 1 like and follow

7:30 - unfollow random number (8-12)

8:30 - 2 comments and follow

10 - unfollow random number (8-12)

11:15 - 2 comments and follow

11:45 - 1 comment and follow and 1 like and follow

1:30 - 2 comments and follow

2 - 1 comment and follow and 1 like and follow

3:30 - unfollow random number (8-12)

4:30 - 2 comments and follow

5 - 1 comment and follow and 1 like and follow

What’s the safest way to do this? Like what actions should I do and when?

This combination itself doesn't violate any rules, but when combined with a high frequency of interaction, it increases the risk of being mistakenly flagged by the system because Instagram's security algorithm becomes more sensitive.

Sound like a false flag. Continue asking the support what triggered the flag. And as far as watching and liking someone's story doesn't put you at risk.

Instagram will detect patterns over numbers. Spread out your actions, do not follow the same pattern on a daily basis,,and include some usual browsing activities. The problem is not in story views or likes, but rather in consistent patternes

If you are commentiong on many accounts in the same niche, try mixing up your activity. spend some time browsing your feed, watching stories, and interacting with existing followers instead of mostly doing outreach.

One more question:
Right now I only send DMs to people who either:

  • Follow me back, or
  • Reply to a comment I left on their post (even if they don’t follow me).

Since Instagram has been falsely restricting my account, would it be safer to stop DMing people who only replied to my comment and only DM people who actually follow me back?

Has anyone noticed a difference in account safety between these two approaches?

If this continues to keep stripping off the restriiction then indeed it seems like there is a case of false detection by Instagram. Rather than being too hung up on the numbers I would rather try to ensure that u remain as natural as possible and do not perform all these activities at once.
