Why do Clickbank product websites looks like sh*t?

I was testing last month on a few pages, and just for kicks I clicked an ugly ad which is to be expected since all their ads on that site are intentionally ugly.

Needless to say I was baffled when the actual page was even uglier. Straight out of '03 design with black letters followed by a brown background. But hey, if they're making money all power to them.

It's pretty amazing what variables actually matter in the sales process.

I've thought about this before. I wouldn't buy from a website that looks like that and I'm sure a lot of people who've been on the internet for any real length of time wouldn't buy from a website that looks like that.

My intuition would be - and I'd love to hear from people with experience of selling their products through such websites - that they're designed to look somewhat spammy and untrustworthy to convert people who are unlikely to ask for a refund or kick up a fuss, in the same sense as Nigerian Prince scam emails are intentionally unbelievable and over the top so as to weed out cynics and bait naive people.

I'm guessing that's the method to the madness. Something along those lines is the only plausible explanation I can come up with, that these websites are set-up to actively target a certain type of buyer.

they're testing the sites and probably the ugly stuff wins.... usually does for me over the nicely designed stuff... go figure :)

It isn't to target people who won't refund. The only niche that has issues with refunds is the IM industry. That gets refunds because obviously people in the IM industry know what ClickBank is and know they can request a refund.

The only other products with high refund rates are super shitty products that no longer exist on ClickBank anymore because they got removed, like those ones that promised to solve your diabetes and then gave you an ebook with no information in at all. Those got refunds because people bothered to do the research to complain, they were so shitty. Thus they also had high chargeback rates too.

thats the main reason why i've never promoted any of their products. But I'm thinkin on it. guess its time to relook at what they got. oh joy i see crappy webpages in my future.

I agree that a lot of them look like shit. I try to make mine seem as professional as possible. Some just have an ugly looking sales letter, and some only have a video and a black background. I try to make the whole thing look like it was made by an actual professional company. I also high professional actors and I think that adds a lot of professionalism. Here's an example of one of mine: http://ezcashworld.com

Lesson learnt after spending hours trying to make my LP's look good.
Shitty graphics always convert better. You could also say that from half the sig-banners on the forum.

Brb making my Clickbank sales page in Paint to get higher conversions.

That's a beautiful page but all that just for a squeeze page? Your conversions must be really low, no? No offense, and tell me I'm wrong if I am, I'm sure you're about to. That just looks more sales page territory. And it's not mobile responsive.

It is beautiful though, I used to make sites like that with XSitePro. I'm more on the messy & simple end of things now.

are you guys defending sh*** LP ?. In my opinion , the LP is just like a mirror, which is reflect your ability, knowledge, professionalism as an office in real world. it must not be shiny but at least good organized, clean and user-friendly..

is there a way to sift through the good CB sites? It seems impossible in 2017

May I know please if that website is designed by you or by an agency?

Thanks.

Sometimes I want to contact them to redesign for free, but f--k it. They look made from the 1990's.

Yes, we all know that CB landing pages looks like a scam but that's because we are smarter than the customers. As for others, they don't know the truth.

Ya, they are done on purpose. It helps with conversion.

basically they convert better just presenting them with the solution to their problem as most clickbank products are
