Hi BHW Team,
The whole world is moving to Mobile Apps (Android/iPhone).
I am wondering why BHW has not created an official app even though it's one of the most advanced communities.
I struggle using it while I am on Mobile.

P.S: I know how to use BHW on Mobile Browsers but it could have been better with the App.

The things discussed here are not permitted on App Store or Google Play
i think this is not the reason, since there exist bhw apps in the play store ( not official thought)
and the apps already exist for years.

Log into a not authorized app with your username and password?

That would be nuts to do.

There's nothing on here that's that bad. 10 years ago it was a different story with the Craigslist, ewhoring, etc.

I've ran some pretty dodgy social apps in high school and college. One that went viral was eventually taken down by Apple by request of the provincial police. Apple's app store rules are not as strict as you think. They care more about data safety and stuff like that - not so much ethics.

An app has been requested many times, one or two by myself. But I've been told that it is not happening, by BTB, too.

Although, I have it bookmarked on my homescreen, so I end up will so many open tabs of bhw that it's ridiculous lol.

I would like to see an app, but I guess its just not going to happen.

I'm not into the app game, but I do wonder whether it would cost too much to run and maintain an app that doesn't give bhw any more revenue, even with 8 million+ users. Maybe they could sell the app for £1 or whatever... just a thought.

Hi BHW Team,
The whole world is moving to Mobile Apps (Android/iPhone).

The world is moving toward mobile devices but I'm not really convinced native apps are the future. Download rates were slowing down (up until everyone got locked inside with COVID) and retention times are fucked. App usage is good but it's all spent on the same stuff like IG or Snapchat.

Speaking personally though I don't really get the appeal of an app for a forum. Chrome can already handle notifications if you want them and I can't think what else an app would add other than bloat.

A PWA would be the solution.
PWA are not mobile app. Also PWA don't get approved in apple store.
In any case BHW website is pretty slick on mobile and tablet, I must say. I never felt like I need an app for it.

I do not see any feature on BHW that could be done better on the app. It doesn't make any financial sense to try to make another platform IMHO. The web UI could itself be better, but app? Not sure why anyone would need an official bhw app.

P.s. you could add a shortcut for bhw on your smartphone if you wanted to... Or even make a small little app that embeds bhw in a 100% stretched webview, and implement pull down to refresh effect, and enable js. Should be a 2 hr job at max if you know what you are doing. That would satisfy what you are looking for without having to give your password out to hackers lol.

There is a website where you can buy loads of reviews and downloads to make things look legit and better than what they are.
It’s blackhatworld.
If there was an app I am 100% sure they would post about it and push it on the site.I for one would never give my username and password to something that “might” or might not be an official app.

What functionality would you like to see in an app that we don’t already have on our dynamic site?

Alright. Now I am convinced that you are not moving to mobile app either. Thanks for your response.

The only thing I could imagine to be better with an app is notifications.

Also, often I do feel the experience in an app is a lot better than purely a website.
