Why are you all so pagerank mad?

So? PR is a ranking factor, as mentioned thoroughly in this thread. Pointing out a source of PR is something that is of benefit.

I never said it is not a ranking factor.

This is my last post in this thread -- done feeding the troll.

Please do. I am not trolling you're trying to be one of the instigators in the thread who are attempting to make it a laugh and a joke with your flaming.

I find it funny but please if you want to take part in my thread read it properly without mis quoting me...:)

What's that sound?

Oh... it's your boss telling you that your lunch break is over.

Protip: SEOs who can get real results in competitive global markets don't work for a salary.

I buy and sell property in the UK. I'm a property renovator.

I'll say the same to you Autumn please don't try to derail the thread from it's original message to the 99% of people who come to BHW thinking tool bar pr is the best metric for buying links.

Lets not let all the link builders mislead with bad info.

DP is http://forums.digitalpoint.com/. You'll find 20 or 30 "toolbar PR is worthless" debate threads there at any given time and feel quite at home.

Guess I did post one last time ... though it is worthwhile. I didn't realize you were lost and needed to be directed to your new home.

Oh i hate that site.

Everything there is to hate about DP can be summed up by your presence on BHW. Everyone is jumping on your case right now because they don't want this forum to change into DP.

Sometimes newbies do come to this forum to learn. I don't think they want to learn internet marketing or blackhat seo from a "property renovator". If you really want people to learn, maybe you should ... you know ... try making a living from IM before you go about teaching others how to do it.

By the way, you think I can't read -- but I know exactly what you're trying to say. You're saying that using toolbar PR as a guideline to buy backlinks is a bad idea, presented with an assumption that we're all doing it and that we're all mad.

Now let me show you how you can't read ...

You say you've read on BHW that people are saying to "only get high PR links". Show me where you read that, Mr. Brilliant Reader.

You say you've read on BHW that people are saying "I will only exchange with PR2 etc". Oh really? You read that here on BHW? Where? You have excellent reading skills, show me where you read it.

Furthermore, your whole presumption of this thread is that somewhere here on BHW that people are being told that you need to buy links only from websites that show high toolbar PR. Anyone who would suggest such a thing would get flamed as bad as you're being flamed. No one is suggesting anywhere that buying only high toolbar-only PR links is beneficial.

99% of the link sellers I see promoting anything, anywhere on BHW are selling forum links (brand new, no PR), scrapebox links (brand new, rarely PR and even if there was there's 100s of OBL on the page), linkwheels (made from brand new web2.0 properties -- i.e. no PR yet).

The only case where anyone is even selling links with "PR" being associated with the links being bought are on private blog networks, where PR is not the only selling factor.

The only person I have ever seen trying to sell links on these boards, using PR as the only indicator of the worth of the link, is YOU. When I first http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/346622-whats-going-rate-pr3-links.html, I thought you were violating the rules of the forum by creating a sales thread outside of the BST category and I was surprised you weren't banned from the forum then by soliciting private messages to sell links without paying the $20 fee.

The only person selling links on BHW with toolbar PR being used as a selling feature is YOU. If you want to protect people by telling them not to buy links based on nothing but PR, maybe you should just tell yourself and spare everyone else the lecture.

*Yawn ....,feck off the thread troll.

I wasnt trying to sell i was testing the water to see what people would pay some people happened to be interested.

You're either a troll or thick as shit.

To be honest im surprised you are not banned you are rude, don't read people threads properly and just throw conjecture on stuff you have no clue about.

Leave the thread i found you funny at first, now you are boring me seriously you haven't a clue. Stick to php leave seo to those in the Know.

Ever tried to pick up another keyword with a PR5/PR6 website?
Whenever I market a new keyterm on my PR6 site, I get it inside a week (even if its 3000 exacts/mth)

pagerank is important when you are looking for sites to comment on or get your links on. period.

I have PR0 sites that rank well in google and make hundreds of dollars monthly. Then I have higher PR sites that make nothing......except from all the people who want to buy links only because they have PR.

So, yeah, keep pushing the PR PR. it helps me out, even though when I build links for my own sites I focus a lot more on relevancy and context.

it's one thing that has some importance. It is far from the most or only important thing. I have received more value from PR0 or PR1 site links for relevant terms than I have from 1000s of random off-topic links on high PR blogs. There are a lot of variables, depends on the niche, etc.

Reading this comment felt like taking a wooden door and repeatedly closing it on my head.

Do you realise the pagerank you can see of a domain name is very very out of date?

What webmasters get to see is TOOLBAR page rank which is very different to ACTUAL pagerank.

Tool bar pr which we can see is a snippet of what a page once was. I have had sites update as pr4 and the following update are a pr0.

It is far better when searching for links to find related links, even if the toolbar shows as a pr0 if it is a related link it is a good link.

If you are searching for non related links then just bear in mind that you will need more non related to get higher in the serps than you would if they were all related.

The reason pr is assigned so much weight is because sites that sell advertising try to egg people into buying the advertising by stating "we also have good pr meaning you get higher google" etc.

I have it on good authority by an seo who is known to google employees that pr is a very over emphasised algorithm.

Just remember it is one algorithm out of many. Don't base your seo efforts on pagerank that is out of date.

I believe you can compare PR to your reputation after posting this thread - its not important, but carries a nice summary of how your content was ranked by BHW.

PR is information. Outdated, but information. And he who has the most information usually wins.

No it's not important because you don't know what the pr is. As i have already said enough times you could pay for it and next update it will be a 0.

Far better to look at the inbound links to a site, work out their authority, age etc Where your link is going on the site, is the site related etc etc.

Yep relevancy is huge, very underated by spammers though.

People think a high pr single text link is better than a low pr body link in a related article, spammers don't understand this.

You obviously don't read the majority of the threads on the site. People here post links to sites with one million outbound links but because it is pr5 they all thank the guy and rep them.

Never mind the fact that all the outbounds make it a rubbish link. :D

I could start a few threads now to high pr .gov pages and have one of the highest thank ratios here if i wanted, but i a have life.

pagerank really, in essence, is quite useless. it is good only, really, for buying and selling links.

How do you get a rep of -1?
Is that in real time or....oh I'm so confused
-4 and counting (how low can it actually go?)
:abducted:

The reason folk on BHW are a little pissed is because when one makes a generalised statement asking "Why are you all pagerank mad?", you're painting everyone with the same brush and assumes a certain lack of inteligence on this place.

This post on other forums would attract different responses, but when asking this here, at a place where some (ahem) interesting methods are used by some, to push ones site up, you may as well have been saying "You guys totally insult my inteligence as am so much better at SEO than all of you"

Surely it would have been better to say - "Why are some people so pagerank mad?", instead of coming to a black hat forum and throwing an untrue sweeping statement at the members.

There are some members here that think so far outside the box, it is scary and they have probably forgotten more about SEO than you or I will ever learn, so just be careful when making generalisations, as this really isn't the place to do it.

Cough, Troll* :D

Why even feed into this guy? He obviously has a Napoleon complex and rides a white pony but fails to see he is the hunchback of Notre Dame here without the happy ending. :D

DP reject for sure and good at selling shit, time for you to move to WF and sell an ebook with all of your "fascinating" view points on PR. :D
