When I was
12 or 13, I played Habbo for about 6 hours a day. I was absolutely in love with the game until they updated it and changed alot of stuff. I remember asking my mom to buy me credits in the game, which would cost real $..
I used to have thrones, and HC sofas so many that I couldn't count. I was so into the game that I created websites laced with keyloggers and I would keylog people and steal all of their in-game currency (furni).
Im older now, and I havnt played Habbo in years, but I would say its successful because of the community and the personal bonding it creates. Kids love it because its a popularity contest to see which rooms (in habbo) get the most traffic. If alot of people are visiting your room, people will chill there and you get to make friends.
And it creates a sense of wealth, the more rare ingame currency (furni) you have in Habbo, the richer you are in the game. And you would be surprised. Back in the day, I started a krew for the game. We all keylogged accounts for the game and we would all split the furni. It was such a good feeling because I was one of the richest people in the game. So I started a mafia in the game. Had so many people join, and the mafia even had ranks. All the high ranked individuals would get a cut of the furni we got from keylogged accounts, and all the low rank people would have to put in the work for us to get more accounts.
This was about six years ago, but I would say Habbo is very successful because of the community it creates, as well as the virtual power status it creates for me.
Edit: This thread brings back old memories. This might be fucking lame so say but Habbo back in the day was the shit. This edit is meant to be read by people who played the game. My username was ?99 in the game. When me and my friends would keylog people, we would drop the furni onto this account called
FurniDropper. Even if you search it in Habbo now, theres still a bunch of rooms with so much furni (the ingame currency) but it was a fake account and noone remembers the password now. That account is still worth hundreds, but I cant get the password because we created a fake D.O.B. and they ask you it to reset your password.
I had sooo much furni and
I was easily one of the richest people in the game at the time. I stopped playing for a while, and when I signed on one day, my account was hacked. I guess what comes around goes around, but I remember I owned a Casino. I had holodice and the casino was so baller that the dealers would be sitting on thrones, and the room was just filled with rares. Easily it would have been
at least a $300 dollar room if I would have sold everything individually on eBay. Ahh.. the good ol days. I hope the Habbo legacy continues on for a long time.
I can easily say Habbo taught me how to make money, and how to hustle in real life. All from a video game, it motivated me to create websites, and keylog people and steal their furni in game. If it wasn't for habbo, I would have never made my first website, and probably would have never gotten into internet marketing.
I hope kids still play it. It taught me more about economics/trading, than school ever did.
Hope you enjoyed my post. It brings back nostalgia just writing it lol
