I have a couple of questions regarding inbound link ratios and was hoping some of the experts could share their thoughts:
1) When linking to internal pages on a website, are you using the same ratios of branded, lsi, exact match anchors that you would when linking to the homepage?
2) What percentage of your overall inbound links are pointing to your homepage?
I ask these questions because for many e-commerce sites that I work with, the category pages are what we are trying to rank (and are the pages that already rank). This is likely due to the internal linking structure of the navigation. It almost seems unnatural to me to link to a category page with just a naked url of the domain.
Also, some categories are so specific that I struggle to find applicable keywords that don't at least include the main keyword. For a broad example, let's say that you have a category page for "Adidas Sneakers". If you're going to link to such a category page, it would, in my eyes, seem unnatural not to have the majority of anchors include "Adidas".
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
