They are basically killing the revenue of every website, so why they aren't sued or just jailed for making such senseless software?

    LMFAO.

    Joke thread?

The cable companies that offer DVRs for recording TV shows should be sued too. It lets people fast forward through commercials and skip them!! They are killing the network TV's revenue!!

    You are trolling now...

TV ads are paid for there popularity, you still have to watch the whole show.. Which adds there view.

In ads(online) you are not paid by 'views' but from clicks. And for clicking you have to watch it first.

If anything its the ads themselves that should be getting sued. The internet is a free resource and the user has the right to display or not to display the ads

You can't be serious. Advertisers pay for TV spots with the assumption that their ads are reaching a certain number of eyeballs. If people can skip the ads, the value of that spot goes down. It's exactly the same as adblock, but I find both adblock and DVRs to be totally fair game. Advertisers have the right to play their games to get into your head, and consumers have the right to fight back if they don't want to see ads.

If you're unhappy with your ad-supported model, start charging people for your service. It's your job to decide what's cost-effective for you, not theirs.

Text based ads work over hosted image ads if adblock is installed.

You can simply write affiliate ad rotators which don't get blocked by Adblock, however your likely to find people running Adblock are unlikely to click on the ads anyway. Or you could just generate new revenue streams it's hardly like network ads are the only revenue source for webmasters. Plus you can also code your site in a way which either gives users a message that their using Adblocker and your site relies on ad revenue or you can just deny access to users using adblocker. Lots of options.

Great idea, maybe that's why link sales took place.

Maybe in your country, but not mine or others.

10M+ users have adblock(chrom) installed, still a lot of fish in the sea. Adsense(or whatever CPC you are using) is not the only way to monetize.

There is a clever solution to the problem. I am a regular visitor to a popular website with shit load of ads, but one of the "ads"(flash) is a RSS feed to another popular news website, displaying the top news. So once or twice a day i disable adblock just to "read" the news.

There's a few reasons I believe this service is still up.
    A) it's open-source and not for profit. No one is gaining money from this. Bringing a lawsuit against adblock would make the plaintiff look like a villain.
    B) It's an extension that has to be actively sought out by the user. It is not being bundled with other software, and it is not promising to do anything than it's sole purpose - to block ads.

The reason I think these two points are important is because there have been companies who have been sued for masking ads by deceiving the user and generating profit for themselves.

Please enlighten me as to how advertising works in your country. I am open to the possibility that the advertising market is a$$-backwards in other countries.

Even with radio.. But in radio ads can be skipped, yet the Radio station is still paid.

There were news in 2009 i think, and indeed, many of them would try making business out of such users.

So i am watching TV - "Ricardo(enraged) is going to kill his father, because Ricardo's father is f*cking his girlfriend..." of course 15 minutes for commercials before the killing blow, i change the channel to animal planet to watch some dog porn and skip the ads. I am doing the exact same thing as adblock, skipping the ads and entertaining myself. SUE ME.
