Some of them did, yes (Alexandria, for example). But I do see your point.
I personally wouldn't do it if I ever decide to create a city.
For example, if I ever purchased a couple thousand acres in Iran, I'd probably name the city something like, "Shefartedand" or something.
I'd have fun with it.

Akon smack that was the first song where I learned the full lyrics lol. Dude’s music was gooood.
 
This song is the best for me, dance till morning with mah friends.
 
I never forgot actually. Following him on IG so he pops up on my feed every week.
Was a big fan of him.
I just don't like his Akon city project for some reason.

Akon is a great dude. He's been onto some very massive projects in Africa lately. I caught a nugget of wisdom from his song, "ghetto", that has stuck with me ever since. It goes thus, "...no need to cherish luxury 'cos everything comes and goes. Even the life that you have is borrowed 'cos you're not promised tomorrow. So, live your life as if everyday is gon' be your last..." If, only, people would take that advice, there won't be any need to fight and bicker over stuffs.
 
Akon made tens of millions after signing Lady Gaga.....who wanna work when money fall from the sky?
