People are fake. They don't even realize that they are fake anymore. That's what I don't like about Christmas and other holidays like this. It's not the Christmas itself but the people. If i'd be stuck in an elevator with an interesting, open and fun person for 15 hours it would be more fun than being near an uninteresting person for one hour on a beautiful beach.
The way I see it, leaving the consumerist side of the Christmas aside, you have to make presents to people you have no idea what they like and you receive shitty presents from people who have no idea what you like. But you have to smile and say thank you and behave like you like it so they don't feel bad. I don't like to be fake like that. Then, you see them trying to impose their superstitions and beliefs onto you. I live in a country where we have superstitions for everything. Can you imagine my mother actually googled "Christmas superstitions"?! WTF! Then she comes to me "you have to eat some apple because you're SUPPOSED to if you want to have a good year. If you dont eat apple you won't have a good year." WTF is that negative, corrosive, idiotic subliminal suggestion?!
So I guess I don't hate Christmas. I just don't like the people I'm with during Christmas. They're my family and I love them, but I don't like them because the mess up my karma.
