Which TV to buy?

Long story short, I need to buy a TV.

My internet provider offered me free TV channels, because it's their birthday or something. Plus I have a TV stand.. with no TV on it...

I don't watch TV. But you know, always watching movies and TV shows on a small lap top screen, maybe I could watch something on a nice big TV for a change.

The only requirement I really have is for the TV to be big, and to have the HDMI port or some sort of way to connect the lap top or hard drive to it. Also to not cost millions of dollars (I know you guys always want to spend millions on everything, but hold your horses)

I have no idea what to look for. There's all this shit. Smart tv, led, lcd, oled... like, there's a lot of shit.

What should I be looking for, what kind of TV to get?

No of course not. The fucking ads popping up whenever and lasting forever! The fucking not being able to decide what to watch and when to watch. Stupid.

But I have a TV stand, and no TV. If anyone comes over, a TV would give them something to do. And most importantly, maybe I would like to watch a movie or a TV show or a tennis match on a big screen TV, like a sir :D

Well, yeah Samsung is a good brand. But that wasn't the point of my question.

It's more like looking for some real-life tips.

Like oh yeah don't buy a TV bigger or smaller than X size because reasons.

Or yeah make sure to check that the TV has X because if it doesn't have that then you won't be able to do Y.

Or make sure resolution is at least X because reasons.

You know, shit like that.

I already mentioned a few reasons. TV stand needs TV, movies, tv shows, tennis, visitors. Also looking for thingies to turn cash into thingies :p
 
Check TCL and Xiamoi. Moderate prices, good quality, just got one form my old man :D (no offense)
 
Do you intend to do anything with tv besides watching movies? like playing games. if yes, id suggests going for a Samsung TV or LG they both have so many options with good quality and display. if you don't intend to spend more on TV Hisense brands is an option but be advised you will hate it, especially the cheap ones.
 
Wait for one of the holiday sales and pick one that's on sale. I know Prime Day is coming up so you might get a good deal on a TV then maybe?
