I suggest you to outsource some profile links, done manually on high PR websites.
I own Xrumer but I still outsource manual profile links for cheap cause profiles from Xrumer tend to be on low PR sites and carry less value. So, if I have to rank for some competitive kws I rather throw a few dozens/hundreds $ and be more confident. Over time I have come up with a list of high PR sites that tend not to delete my profiles (i.e. 90 out of 100 are still there after a few months) so I just hit the guy and order a manual blast on my custom list.
Just make sure your outsourcer knows the difference between do.follow and nofollow backlinks, understands what you teach him and he's realiable (most cases they aren't, in my experience).
You may want to test out a few of them with some small orders, then check their reports and see how they are doing. Then pick the best.
Scrapebox can be very helpful, it's actually a tool that comes in handy frequently for stuff like checking outsourcers' reports, PR of websites in bulk, URLs indexed, scraping proxies et cetera. In your case though, for backlinking purposes, I suggest to avoid it and look for profile links. (but if you have 60 bucks to spare buy it, it's a one time payment and you'll be amazed by how many things it comes helpful with.)
Backlinking with SB (and getting good results I mean, not just blasting near-to-worthless comments) ain't the easiest way and entails a learning curve to be successful at it (with good peace of all the folks that buy it and expect to have the magic SEO button at their disposal, all they need is scrape and comment, scrape and comment).
Just a hint on that: go for high PR pages and as second choice, High PR domains (if your comment isn't on HIGH page, it will still benefit of the authority of the domain).
Summing up: profile links from HIGH PR domains. The more the better.
