Which Internet security Suite is the best? Which one are you running

I use avast internet security and its pretty good, that is if you update it daily

I am using QuickHeal IS
Its working pretty good till now.

i scan with comodo every week or so. i have good internet habits so i dont have to worry too much.

I love you man. As a computer shop owner we love customers like you. We can hardly keep up with them. The latest FBI ransom virus is the cat's meow. You should see the face of people carrying those in. Priceless.

I have MSE and it works just fine... have tried AVG, Avast, Eset and Norton... nothing beats MSE.

1) No antivirus will truely clean your pc. Format is the only way to fully clean it.
2) Antivirus Companies create viruses so they can sell their products.

LOL, you're infected and don't even know it. I love customers like you. You're just one click from a hijack. You do an innocent Google search and click a link to a site that redirects you or has an auto downloader and you're done. You are either completely infected or the luckiest guy in the world.

5-6 years ago I would have agreed with you but with today's auto downloaders I've see first hand KAV protect my ass and all I did was do a Google search and click a link. Bam bam bam (3 redirects in less than 2 seconds) and KAV blocked the infection before I could read where the hell I ended up.

KAV has a packet sniffer that checks packets before they download to your system and that offers the best protection. Of course the Russians know how to do it right which is where KAV comes from. We fix systems daily that run McAfee and Norton. I just worked late fixing a college kid's FBI ransom virus and after I removed it there was worthless McAfee running in the background. KAV would have stopped it before it downloaded one bit to the hard drive.

You can certainly clean viruses without formatting a drive if you know what you're doing. Most don't and typically only remove half a virus or remove the one they see and not the ones they don't.

Surfing the web without a good anti-virus is like visiting a whorehouse without a condom. Do it often enough and you'll surely catch something.

MSE is the best of the free a/vs out there, but you get what you pay for. We fix plenty of machines running up to date mse. If you want the best you get KAV or NOD32. MSE will protect you from the kids stuff but not from the serious stuff. The recent ransom viruses walk right through mse like it's not even there. We get a couple systems a day running mse that are actively infected and mse doesn't even know the virus is there. Toss in KAV and in a quick scan the virus is found. MSE is really bad detecting rootkit viruses. We see rootkits running all the time with MSE sitting idly by saying everything is good.

Virus writers write to circumvent the free a/vs because they know that will infect the most systems. MSE is the best of free stuff but not good by any stretch of the imagination.

ESET NOD32 + Comodo firewall with overly strict filtering and custom settings.

Only use very trusted programs from very trusted companies otherwise run them in Virtualbox that also runs eset nod32 + comodo for detecting which programs are acting maliciously.

My personal experience, Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware is the best for getting rid of viruses and trojans. Have played around with crypters and R.A.Ts before Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware was always the first to detect them, not at runtime but by running A manual scan. Just my 2cents.

using bitdefender ! pretty good

Its better to use a combination of malware removing tools, in case one will miss soemthing. I use malwarebytes and spybot s&d.

Anything that pops up when it should and does nothing when it should is bad in my eyes. Microsoft security essentials for me.

MSE has one of the lowest system resource footprints, a very low false positive rate and has great detection techniques that are not at all invasive to the user. Honestly as a software developer of many years with experience helping others get around issues, most AVs are just an abhorrent mess that cause more problems than they solve.

MalwareBytes is awesome at getting rid of threats that other software cannot touch and is the only thing other than MSE that I could ever bring myself to advise others use.

Are you guys seriously advising anyone use AVG, Avast or Kaspersky? Have you tried the alternatives?

I've used all antivirus posted in this thread over many years and I prefer Kaspersky. It never blocks what you don't want it to block, and if you have ANY trouble with it you can temporarily disable it. It's constantly being updated. And only ever takes any noticable resources when it updates. And Tons of options/Customization. It has ALWAYS saved my ass from the worst viruses.

"most AVs are just an abhorrent mess that cause more problems than they solve." MSE is fantastic, except for the fact you can't simply turn it off if it blocks something you don't want it to block. YOU CANT GET RID OF IT. So if installing a crack or game that it blocks, you're shit out of luck. You can disable it you say? IT RUNS THE SAME IN DISABLED MODE. It blocks the same shit. No difference. Then you are forced uninstall MSE for a simple game or software & they don't even make it easy to do that. However, it is lightweight and has some of the best antivirus protection.

And AVG is a complete joke. It meets all qualifications, except for it's main purpose. It doesn't catch even the most basic viruses.
