If you can't get the .com, then:
1. I'm with Dizen here - Use a short suffix or prefix if you have to have the non-dash version. This is a much better alternative to .info domains.
2. Get the .net or .org.
3. Get the dash version of the .com
4. Get the dash version of the .net or .org.
Some thoughts on domains.
1. Stay away from .info at all costs. If you only have $1.00, then save your money until you can get a .com, .net, or .org.
2. Dashes in domains are OK: KeywordA-KeywordB.com makes for a very readable domain name, and dashes are often preferred in other countries, for example Germany.
3. Everybody knows and trusts .com. Billions of dollars have been spent to market .com URLs. .Com is instant recognition, instant trust, instant credibility.
4. If your market is not in the US, then consider the ccTld of the country to which you are marketing. Ie. - use .de in Germany, .co.uk in the UK, .co.za in South Africa, etc....
