I have a two word keyword I want to rank for. The .com, .net, and .org are taken for the keyword, but the .info, and my-keyword.com are open. Which of these two would be better? mykeyword.info OR my-keyword.com Thanks in advance.
I can't really answer your question, OP, but I have a similar question: If they were both .coms, which would be better?: my-keyword.com mykeyword.com Right now, I have a few autoblogs using the former, but wondering if I'm doing it right.
dont use info its harder to get them rank . I know because I have some .infos domain. use mykeywordplusshortsuffix.com or my-keyword.com between two, I'll choose mykeywordplusshortsuffix.com
If your keyword.com, .net, and .org are already taken, I suggest you first to check for what these domains are used, because those are potential competitors for your niche/keyword and might be hard for you to outrank. If the domains are parked then you're good to go with other format of your keyword based domain, but if they are websites/blogs (especially the keyword.com) then study their back links and what keywords they are targeting to see if they are going to compete with you or not. Or will be better if you just leave this keyword in my opinion. If keyword.com, .net, and .org, are taken then you can go with key-word.com. .info are not recommended for niche websites .
If you can't get the .com, then: 1. I'm with Dizen here - Use a short suffix or prefix if you have to have the non-dash version. This is a much better alternative to .info domains. 2. Get the .net or .org. 3. Get the dash version of the .com 4. Get the dash version of the .net or .org. Some thoughts on domains. 1. Stay away from .info at all costs. If you only have $1.00, then save your money until you can get a .com, .net, or .org. 2. Dashes in domains are OK: KeywordA-KeywordB.com makes for a very readable domain name, and dashes are often preferred in other countries, for example Germany. 3. Everybody knows and trusts .com. Billions of dollars have been spent to market .com URLs. .Com is instant recognition, instant trust, instant credibility. 4. If your market is not in the US, then consider the ccTld of the country to which you are marketing. Ie. - use .de in Germany, .co.uk in the UK, .co.za in South Africa, etc.... GS
