Where to find accounts to follow manually?

I have been manually Follow/Unfollowing for a while at a slow pace.

I normally just follow people who posted recently in relevant hashtags.

I think that to get better engagement (comments) on my posts, it's better to follow people who commented on recent posts of similar accounts to mine. However, I rarely see a post by a big account that just got posted in the last 30 mins or so, I think my IG algorithm has adapted to showing me posts by small accounts I follow who's photos I regularly like.

Anyone got any tips/tricks?

If you like specific accounts, you can simply turn notifications on for them.

Every time they post, you get a notification and you can then post the #1 comment.
 
Turn on Notifications for Accounts you want to see Timely Content on,This will fix your Issue.

For Better Engagement,Follow Likers & Commenters of Recent Photos of your Competitor or Niche Based Accounts.
 
If you feel the algorithm is working against you, couldn’t you try and re-train it by following some larger creators? This would also result in better reccommendations of related accounts overall — either through mutual connections to them, or similarities their followers share with your account. Combined with the new post notifications, it you should be getting substantially better results.
 
Doing the F/U method as well atm. First I followed commenters like you, now just people I find interested in same field. I scraped lots of public profiles, edited the dublicates away and just go through the list everyday.

Boring as hell, but saves time. I get around 1/4 followback. Some days 1/3 by liking and commenting here and there.
 
Follower your competiors recent followers. Like their posts.
Also if you are following people who recenlty posted with a specific hash tag, make sure to like post as well

I've used free trials of jarvee and phantombuster so far. Both are not to my taste as jarvee gets blocked so fast and I'm too lazy to create burners for the side project. Phantombuster has let me scrape around 60k followers.

Whatever you use, the key is to have the ability to exclude private profiles. That will save you time before IG will start to send you reminders about protecting their members.

I'm looking for an easy scraping tool atm that will let me scrape tons of public followers atm and show their follower and following count. With google sheets, I can short them by ratio then and that would save even more time.

Pick followers from accounts that share posts that are relavent to your niche. Follow those who have liked recent posts to make sure that you are following active accounts.
