Dam, I learned alot from this forum,finally started to make some decent cash. I just want to say thank you to the folks that posted here.
I can't believe all the censorship we recieve around here. They crack down on us like were criminals. I know how to get them back. Let's spam them to death. LOL.
These Big a.. corporations making it impossible for 1 person to get rich but then they get rich off of everybody. sucks.
The only way for a small guy to compete is through BH.

Well that may be true. But another point besides whether craigslist employees can join and read it when they want is that the general forums are crawled by google and the VIP forums aren't.
What that means is now the only people that'll find the information in the cl forum are the people that know to join it. The general masses searching for information won't be finding the tactics, methods, and discussions being posted in there just by doing a google search.
The move won't prevent it completely, but possibly might help keep some cl tactics and methods from getting saturated so fast in the future.

I joined yesterday or the day before just for craigslist.
I make about 75K/year off CL and the rest off google, CL has been changing a LOT lately and I wanted to learn more.
Whatever is going on, it's not explained, people like me don't have a clue what's going on, and goodbye.

I'm not super happy about the move, but I'm not extremely angry about it either.
I guess I'm just a little pissed because I already bought VIP, and it has expired on me. This was BEFORE the CL forum was moved...so now once my VIP expires they decide to move it? Bleh. It's pretty much the only forum I used on here. ALthough it was full of noobies, there was still some great discussion going on there.

It's a little sad about the CL forum, but that's the nature of the beast. It's cool.
Does anyone remember who the guys were that sold phone numbers?
I love the ethical situation that has developed here. Craigslist doesn't trust it's users. The users don't trust Craigslist. The users don't trust each other.
It's just a shame that Craigslist's oppressive policies are designed to keep everybody at "consumer" status. Aggressive, enterprising entrepreneurs need not apply.
CL now impose a confining regionality on everybody that uses them. But they themselves have not observed regionality, and have consistently crushed other, regional forms of classified advertising all across the country -- they have become the Walmart of classified advertising.
For 5 years, Craigslist for me personally was a beacon of hope. Now I see it as a very oppressive, unfriendly place, a place where I can spend money but not earn it. We have no choice but to seek alternatives.

Nevertheless it's still the best place to advertise my rental properties. (Although I haven't had to place any units on the market this year so I'm not sure if the CL traffic is slowing down where I post.)

This is how it's going to play out. Everyone will bitch about the $100 paid service (except those smart enough to see the value) and the first time CL makes a big change and confuses the complainers, then we'll see a flood of new paid members.

I have been on vacation for about a week and was surprised to see the CL forum disappear. I've read this particular thread and it seems to me that nobody is giving any answers if the CL forum has been moved to private paid section or not.
